Has anyone seen one of those new Sony Ericsson m600i phones in the wild? Just wondering what the build quality, functionality is like and what the price ranges are.

It's looking more and more like my next phone, pretty shmick.

Interesting, but no WLAN, which I find quite convenient in a phone. (Skype, AIM chat etc.)

I've just put in an order for a Nokia e70, which comes with the Apple WebKit - based new browser.

I'm still waiting for the e60 to come out, wich will have all those features, but actually looks like a phone.

How bad is the battery life on it?

Dunno. I'll tell you when I have it (which will be in about 3 weeks from what I've heard today).

Until then here are the 'official' numbers… (sorry for teh German)

German's a bit rusty.. what does it say?

The one thing I REALLY hate about Nokia's is that 90% of their phones have abysmal battery life. Even that $1000 silver slider model has the worst battery life on the market.

Hmm, I've been happy with my old 6600's battery, which lasts 4-5 days. But I'm not into lots of long calls, either, so maybe that's because. I tend to use the thing in short bursts for checking websites and less than 15 min calls.

Are you more of a heavy user, or maybe the phone needs to output a more powerhungry signal because of bad coverage?

Or maybe 4-5 days is old,

Well reception is not my problem. I live in a big city and always get 4 bars 3 at the lowest.

I have a nokia, it is advertised at 2-3 hours talk and cost me $600. Prob is 2-3 hours talk isn't the case after having it on standby for just a day.

I get a $100 Sony Ericsson and it is listed at 10 hours talk.

Nokia is doing something very wrong with batterylife and I haven't seen any evidence they they have THAT much better reception to justify the cost or the battery life.

When I go on vacation I don't even need to bring a charger as it will be happy on standby for 10-15 days. My nokia's won't make it 2 days with lite calling.
