Somebody should update the gifs, they have had this new look on the post-it note for a while now.

/ajprice waits for the gifs anyway.

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

A friend of mine wants the 17" MacBook Pro, but I want a 13" widescreen 1280x800 machine. Unfortunately for me, the Mac gossip sites have been predicting the former, not the latter.

Well, at least the 17" has an 8X SuperDrive with DL support. The 15" is single-layer 4X only.

P.S. The listed pricing is interesting:

It is listed at US$2799, but you can actually get the same specs right from Apple for $2699.

$2799 is for 1 GB RAM on one SO-DIMM. $2699 is for 2x512.

I wonder why Apple isn't advertising it for $2699.

P.S. We Canadians are getting it for CAD$3299 and $3179, which gives us about 85¢ on the dollar. That's close enough. (Our $ is currently worth 87.9¢ US.)

it costs less to soup up the 17" to maximum freshness than the 15"

i might make the 15" MacBook Pro purchase into a 17" now... DL support is very enticing

So there's a penalty for going smaller... a CTO 2.16 GHz MacBook Pro 15 is the same price ($2799) as the 17", but the 17" has a larger, higher res screen, larger HDD, and better optical drive. How is this fair?

Also, the return of FireWire 800!

Maybe, maybe not. However, I do suspect that it will be out before the 2006 National Educational Computing Conference, which starts July 5.

I was predicting a May release, but now I'm thinking maybe late June.

The 15 is more portable, and sometimes portability trumps size and bigness.
