Like the title implies, I love Shakira as a composer and a singer. However, ever since she dyed her hair blonde and became an Aguilera clone, I haven't liked her image so much. Also, since she started singing in English, her Spanish composing stopped being super-awesome. It seems she's started to cater the non-Spanish speaking Latin people, which is BLA. Moreover, her last hit "Hips don't lie" seems to make fun of Spanish language. I am absolutely tired of it.

Any other Spanish speakers feel the same way?

I'm not a fluent spanish speaker, but: Christina Aguilera can only wish she were Shakira.

Sony have ruined her latest CD Your Embrace is my favourite song and it's got the most awful clipping in parts. What a waste.

Both Shakira and Christina are beautiful, talented young women and I wish them well.

Excellent point, I was thinking something similar during the weekend while watching her latest video.

She used to be a kick ass song writer and had lots of personality, but somehow she is becoming boring, untalented, etc. I don't know why, but she was really good when singing in spanish.

I think her natural hair is beautiful, never got the blonde move.

I used to like Shakira. Then I found out that she's only 4'11", and thus not a real person. Everyone knows that real people start at 5'.

Completely agree. When she dyed her hair blonde I thought, great, another Hispanic trying to acquire the gringo look to appeal to North Americans. I hoped it was only a temporary gimmick but it has continued. I don't like her English music for the most part, while virtually every single Spanish song in her early CDs is nice. She is probably making more money now than before but quality is suffering. She needs to go back to her roots. I have not bought any of her recent music because knowing how great she is in Spanish I can bear to listen to her English songs.

The first time I heard her stuff I said, "Great! A Hispanic Alanis Morrisette."

(I don't like Alanis Morrisette's voice either).

Thank you very much!

Now go find her telephone number (or email) and forward to me!

So. I just had a look. Seems there's everything from 4'11" to 5'2" out there. I'd nip out and measure her but I don't have a micrometer handy, so I guess we'll just have to average and go with 5'1/2". Bah. That puts her over the 5' mark, into the "real person" class. The other gnomes in the colony won't be happy about that, I tell you. They'll be sobbing and screaming all night, I won't get a wink of sleep.

Yes. But I'm hoping that she'll one day soon return to her roots.

For now, I'll enjoy SOAD and it will keep me from going on a murderous rampage.
