You are correct, sir!

And there are some people who LOVE to ride the crest of EVERY new fashion and fad who will give these things a go and then if and when these, "Early Adopters" pronounce them ok, then the rest of us will eventually get around to trying them out.

Took me YEARS to get a microwave. My first real computer? 2001.

Coke Blak? Talk to me about it this fall.

IF it's still around.

Moxie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Picture of a modern Moxie can. Moxie is found throughout New England and in parts of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Moxie, a carbonated beverage, is considered to be the USA's first mass produced soft drink. Created in 1876 in Lowell, Massachusetts as a patent medicine by Dr. Augustin Thompson, Moxie was marketed under the product name “Moxie Nerve Food” and was said to cure ailments ranging from softening of the brain to “loss of manhood.” [1] In 1884, it was sold in carbonated form [2] and merchandised as an invigorating drink, which claimed to endow the drinker with "spunk." In the early phase of its life as a recreational soft drink, Moxie is said to have been kept handy by bartenders to give to customers who were too drunk to be given any more alcohol. This story may be apocryphal, however, inspired by Moxie's (in)famous aftertaste that many people find unpleasantly strong.

The name entered the American language, when a person was said to be "full of Moxie", meaning that the person was skillful, or spirited. In this popular meaning, the word is sometimes spelled moxy. Moxie became unique in that it was the name of a commercially produced soft drink, also included in dictionaries.

The popularity of Moxie produced popular advertising jingles such as "Just Make It Moxie for Mine" and president Calvin Coolidge was known to have favored the drink. Ted Williams also endorsed the soft drink.

Falling out of favor due to competition from Coca Cola, demand for the soft drink has waned in recent years, although demand for it still exists in the New England area. It is, since May 10, 2005, the official state soft drink of Maine.

One of the key ingredients of Moxie is "Gentian Root Extractives" and probably contributes noticeably to its unique flavor. For those without access to Moxie the flavor can be approximated (and adjusted to taste) by adding Angostura bitters to Rootbeer.
Moxie is presently owned by the Monarch Beverage Company of Atlanta, Georgia. The Catawissa Bottling Company is one of the six bottlers in the United States producing Moxie. It is located in Catawissa, Pennsylvania and has produced Moxie since 1945. Sugar-free Diet Moxie is also available.
[edit]
Yeah, Moxie tries to go after Coke's market share and Coke introduces Blak to go after Moxie's market?

Yes -

New Coke & Coke II.

I don't drink carbonated concoctions myself, but it sounds absolutely horrible. My brother purchased a 4-pack of it, and told me it was vile and disgusting.

When I think of Pepsi Blue and other defunct drinks along that same line, the purple/green ketchup craze always come to mind. I kept the only two bottles of purple and green Heinz ketchup that I purchased a few years back - because I knew it would flop. Why did I buy it? Lord only knows.

QFT.

Coke Zero kicks major ass. Best 0-CAL soda on the market. Funny Coke was so late to introduce this, since Coke Zero is simply Coke Classic with artificial sweetener.

I like Coke Blak mostly due to the fact that it's surprisingly sweet given its small caloric amount. Yet, it's expensive right now and not good enough to justify paying that premium regularly, so unless its price is lowered soon I imagine it may not sell well.

Nope, I can't stand either. I do colas, lemon-lime, and Mountain Dew. No variations of any of the above.

And Coke Zero had a really nasty aftertaste that I just can't get over. Ew.

Tried Coke Blak in France over the weekend. Is rather odd. Tastes like a cross between coke, coffee, and cream soda!

Also tried the new diet cherry coke.. didn't like it though.. Seems they have used a different cherry favouring in the diet version.

I thought it was good. Admittedly, it was a little disappointing considering it's a mix between the greatest soda and the greatest drink on earth. I'll try it again.

Drinking a bottle of it right now for the first time. Meh...not bad. Kinda tasty...could definitely get used to it. But not for the price. I saw it at the local Stop-N-Rob and grabbed a bottle without looking at the price...rang up at $2 for an 8 oz. drink...ouch.

For that money I'll buy bottled frapuccino...or a jack/coke during happy hour...

Starbucks has people standing in lines at stores around the world every morning waiting to pay $3 - $4 a cup for coffee. Flavored coffee, but basically, coffee.

Coca Cola Co.: "Let's get us some of that market!"

If cigarettes are/were seen as a nicotine delivery system, Blak may be seen as a caffeine delivery system, methinx.

It's.... allegedly available within a 30 min drive of the cities. Have yet to actually FIND it anywhere. And with gas being what it is, without knowing an exact store to go to, can't say I'm gonna be searching much in the near future.

Don't suppose you have any leads, perhaps?
