OK I heard that some of the resident evil series are pretty good. I have a gamecube so I know that my choices are limited. So this w-e I'll have some time and would like to experience this game. Without relieving any spoilers, which should I start with ? which one should I avoid ?

Avoid them all except the gamecube version.

If you have a high rez TV the cube version looks pretty crappy though.

Zero is not that good. The remake of Resident Evil is good and RE4 is fantastic. Play RE4. The story sucks anyway, so you won't be lost by the fact that you haven't played any of the other games.

I thought RE0 was the remake .... I'm confused...

RE then RE2 then RE3 . Gets kinda confusing here RE0 and RE4? Anyway , I heard RE2 and RE3 sucked, while raves about re4 and of the original RE (but there was a controller issue and camera angle stuff). Then Capcom remade the original (fixed those problems ) called it RE0.

Or did I screw up the history completely?

just get RE4 and be done with it. fantastic game that solved a lot of the issues with the earlier ones.

Yeah, you have it messed up. It goes like this....

Resident Evil, RE2 and RE3 were on the PS1.
Code Veronica is technically the 4th game in the series and was on the Dreamcast.
Resident Evil was then remade on the Gamecube (with a llot of changes and way better graphics)
Then there was Resident Evil 0 which was a prequel and is considered the worst in the series
Resident Evil 4 is the 5th game and n my opinion the best

Just play Resident Evil 4 and don't worry about it.

Resident Evil 0 is like 4 years old. It's not a new name.

It's also an actual prequel, so it kinda makes sense.

RE 2, Code Veronica and 4 are the best imho.

I'm currently playing RE4 on the PS2 and it's nothing short of spectacular.

Though the puzzles in the gamecube version of red evil were quite easy.

I just finished the game. Seriously that was a great game. Probably the best on my GC. I love the fact that I can continue the game afterwards with the stuff and weapons that I had accumulated.
Now, Hand cannon or chicago typewriter? hmmm.

If you are going to buy only one, buy RE4. It is absolutely a work of art.
