I gave it a 3 out of 5. They had some decent actors and it coulda been pretty good, but they needed a better director. Radha Mitchell is a great actress, she was awesome in Pitch Black. She just wasn't doing very well for this movie. Alice Krige is a phenomenal actress, I think she did very well even without direction; but she has a lot more experience than Radha.

Now, if Clive Barker had directed it, I think this movie coulda been pretty damn awesome.

As far as games-to-movie adaptation, it's probably the best one so far.

poorly written dialogue
poorly delivered dialogue
poor acting in general
cheeeeezzyyyyy effects
not even remotely scary or even startling even when it was trying to be
weak directing

All in all i was actually a bit embarassed to admit that I spent money to go see this movie, i really can't find anything about it that i liked.

As far as games-to-movie adaptations go, I'm still waiting for Tetris: the Movie

I'd give it 1.5 stars. I thought it could have been good, but really lacked in general. The dialog was poor, the effects were sad, and ultimately, I thought it played out too much like a video game. There was too much, Oh I'll open this door, look around, open a drawer, ahah a flashlight, exit room.

It was pretty damn good (as far as horror movies these days go) I'll give it 3 out of 5.

The dialougue and story was bad because it's a video game movie, nuff said, but the scenes were eerie and the special effects were good enough.

If you're not into games etc (I have no idea wtf Silent hill is besides a horror movie) is it even worth seeing?

I found Silent Hill entertaining and I also enjoyed drawing parallelisms with the game while I watched the movie. Visually this movie is a sight to be seen! All other areas fall short though, especially the dialogue. This one needed a few more re-writes and could have been a real winner had they cleaned up the script. I had a laugh when I saw the female cop for the first time, she looked like a leather mistress, as some have put it.

Critics have been very very hard on this film, however, for the most part, most movie-goers have enjoyed it. It is worth seeing if you enjoyed the game or enjoy very twisted movies

Definitely not, you will hate it if you can't relate to the game.

Actually liked about 5 min of the whole movie.
