Can you imagine the situation:
Bob: Well George, would you rather be surrounded by A.) Drunks, or B.) Stoners?
George: I'll take "C" Bob. Surrounded by hot chicks. I don't want to be surrounded by Drunks or Stoners Bob.
Seriously, what kind of an argument is that? I'd rather be...

my prefernce is to be around sane sober people. but the last time I went to an arena football game. well let's just say I had to keep one eye on the drunken idiots around me. it is sad its come to that. but people in large groups with alcohol = large group of drunken idiots. let the fights begin.

Do you think stoners would attend arena football en masse? I think not.

I drive by that field daily, CU is the stoner capital of the world, every year for 420 that field fills up with people smoking, the cops are hopeless because the kids are not doing anything to harm eachother, just smoking, so the cops sit to the side and watch... two years ago the school was rated the #1 party school in the US... I have not been around many other college towns, but I can easily understand why it is the number one party school... when you have college kids driving H2's and new BMWs, basically they have a lot of money, and no life...so they party

although I may end up taking classes at CU in a couple years, I would hate to be associated with the school.

Yay, more stoners to migrate in a zombielike fashion from the campus to enjoy the life of begging on the Pearl Street Mall. Woohoo. Yay, People's Republic of Boulder.
Feh.

I just WISH their record system was hacked or that it had a glitch so that the names of the people who "helped" identifying these innocent kids are exposed publicly. "Hey guys, can I hang out with you? - NOOO" Have a nice semester

Do you know what fine/sentence will these hippies get once they're identified? They cannot prove that they are in fact smoking marijuana, all they have is photographic evidence of them being in a closed park... Warning?

Right. Personally if I were one of them I wouldn't be worried about the police so much as the University. If any of them were in athletics or any of them had scholarships with drug related clauses it would be trouble.

Looks to be a private University and these were campus police, who also posted warning signs on the field. No tax dollars at work here.

Edit: Strike that. It's public. I doubt campus security had much else to do though.

True, but for all the money spent spying on potheads that were openly celebrating their drug of choice, you'd think maybe some other part of the school needed it more.

My biggest problem with legalizing pot is it would be impossible to go into a bar without getting high through secondhand smoke. You thought the nicotine buzz you get when leaving a bar was bad? Try having pot in the air as well. (Imagine just going to a bar and failing your pee test afterwards. [If pot is legalized, it would have the same DUI charges as alcohol, because it too impairs your ability to drive])

Who says it has to be legal to smoke it in a bar?

I was hoping for this day to come: it would cost much less in alcohol if you could BYOB (bring your own buzz). But just as the precedent liberal governement were opening the door by deciminalizing possession, the newly elected conservative party reversed all that. Plus, starting this summer, it will be illegal to smoke even cigarettes in most public places. So it wouldn't be a concern, at least on this side of the border, but I read many cities were doing the same in the 'states.

Beside, as an interesting discussion, I'd like to ask (to everybody): knowing that you'd get filmed/photographied in a similar event, would you go anyway? Personally I'd go, as a matter of principle, to stand up for the cause and freedom. Granted, I don't know the rules at this university, maybe I'd think twice if it would jeopardize my semester, but here in Québec, it's not a problem. Or at least, I would disguise myself slightly so there's still a reasonable doubt that remains as to my identity.

Hell yeah I'd go. They have Extravaganja at Amherst the weekend on or after 4/20 every year. That day the cops look the other way.

If I had gotten all nice and baked to go to this event, and I saw signs that they were going to photograph me, I'd probably just smile for the cameras and pack a bowl.

Why is public drunkeness MORE accepted than happy, mellow potheads? I've never known a LESS destructive group of people in my life.
