I'm not going to go to the Saturday grand opening, but I'll go eventually (esp. if Apple releases a 13" MacBook / MacBook Pro soon). However, for those of you who like to line up hours in advance , here are the details (if you don't already know them):

Grand Opening: Apple Store, Eaton Centre
9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 6

We created the Apple Store in the same way we create our products—with you in mind. Come to our grand opening this Saturday and help us celebrate our newest store. Meet our team of Creatives—professional designers, filmmakers, and photographers who can help you bring your creative projects to life.

With so much going on, what will you do first?

* Enter to win a Digital Lifestyle Collection valued at over $2100*
* Work one-on-one with a Creative
* Learn about everything you can create on a Mac
* Test-drive any iPod in the iPod family
* Ask about our free workshops on creating and sharing music, movies, and photos**
* Bring technical questions about your Mac or iPod to the Genius Bar

Not sure I want to line up for a free t-shirt.

I'll check it out sometime though.

BTW. it is on the 3rd floor as far as I know, the least trafficked and snooty floor.

I'd rather see it up there than the trashy lower levels.

I was there today shopping for some household stuff.

The 3rd level is actually ground level, so it's very well travelled. I had originally thought you meant the upper level where the upper floor of Indigo is, but there is no extra space up there.

Too bad the Apple Store doesn't look like it's going to be that huge though, not as big as like the one in Manhattan (Tribeca?). Maybe it's bigger than the Yorkdale one possibly, but it doesn't seem like there's enough space for something like the huge flagship store I was hoping for. However, we shall see...

BTW, the store next to it is opening at around the same time. I guess Apple couldn't or didn't want to secure that space to make one great big Apple Store in the Eaton Centre. The good news though for some of the other Apple-oriented stores though around there (CompuSmart, Northstar, Computer Systems Centre, Carbon) is that they won't have a humungous flagship store to compete against I suppose.

I'll totally be there....

Oh wait... nope. I guess that bride to Canada isn't done yet. Oh well. Best of luck getting a t-shirt.

No, the third floor is not ground level, that is level two. The Apple Store is level 3 (the quite deserted floor that not many go on). The only other thing I can think of on it is Club Monaco.

They should sell Apple hockey jerseys.

So I'm here at the Eaton Centre Apple Store. It's fairly nice, but not so big. Moderate sized.

Very busy now at 6 pm, but no lineup. They said there was a lineup in the am.

No 13" MacBooks yet.

I was there earlier today. I'd say it is about 30% larger than there other Canadian location (Yorkdale).

Pix

I like the design on the main window, even though I have no idea why it's there.

in the second picture of the facade, the left window looks broken because there's a hi-fi in the middle that "shattered" it. the right side has the three sort of tube-like things with a mactel in each.

The last I had heard was that Montreal and Calgary were getting ones before Vancouver.

There have been a couple of incidents at a corner nearby. However, overall that area is OK.

I just wish there were more of a police presence. I rarely see them near that corner. If they had been there I suspect a couple of these incidents may not have happened.

Certainly, that would be a better use of police personnel than make them stand and watch at construction sites.

I am at the Eaton Centre every week and I have never thought it was the least bit unsafe. It is very clean with more higher end stores.

I went to the AppleStore in buffalo and the whole mall is ghetto.
