Yeah I know how it feals, If I remember to, I just add "big image" to every single thread I start. That way if someone wants to add an image they can without ruining it for 99% of the people.

Good idea Sometime I wonder if it takes so much time for a mod to modify the title rather than to replace the image with a bracketed sentence...

I think we should vote to repel this idiotic rule. There's a minority of users still using 56k (and they can always press the Stop button if they feel it will take too long), and larger monitor are becoming the de facto standard. As for the thread formatting argument, since we are allowed to post large picture, provided that we put a warning, it is a moot point.

Come on, this is only ruining the fun, especially since the mod deletes the links as well as the [img ] tag and the OP usually doesn't keep the link in his bookmark; the good laugh is transformed into anger for most users. At least some mods change the [IMG ] tag into [URL ], thus preserving the ability to see what the picture was about, otherwise it's just teasing and frustrating. Deleting it doesn't do anyone a favor, beside providing the mod the joy of exerting his power.

At least, use some common sense when enforcing the rule. If a mod feels the image is really excessive and was put there to annoy people, then do something, but most of the time, the image is only slightly larger than permitted. Plus, in many occasion, the picture is scaled down when presented on a page, so when the user select "Copy image address", they don't think it will show up that big, then the harm is done and the user doesn't realize it until he posts his message. And many people don't have account on image hosting site and/or don't have the bandwidth to accomodate a large number of views on their personal space.

And please don't bring the 2¢ psychologist argument that it conditions users by using "negative reinforcement".
