When I moved from my wonderful batchlor pad in with my grandmother, due to her reoccurance of cancer, I brought my Cable service with me. But as it is that I work 50-60 hour weeks, and not having the time to watch TV has much, I've decided to join in on my Grams Satalite service.

Long story short, I need to upgrade her LNB to one that can support three independent TV recievers (currently it only does two).

I've been doing some research online trying to find what I need. I've found a few that look like what I need, but I'd like to have some guidence. Below is the information that I know right now, If more info is needed, just let me know.

Currently My gram just has two basic recieving units. I'm going to be picking up the DirectV R15 Reciver/DVR. My entertaiment system is quite moddewst but I do have a HiDef TV, I don't need to use it for internet (I have DSL for that),

So the main thing I need is the LBN, if anyone could point me to where, online, I can get what I need, I'd be most appreciative.

The LNB or Low Noise Block is the actual reciever for the dish itself and shouldn't be replaced without replacing the entire dish. Further, if she has a round dish with a single LNB as it sounds, you can't just replace the LNB assembly as the triple LNB requires an elliptical dish. The Triple LNB exists not to add additional recievers, but to pick up additional sattellites for the local broadcast stations that weren't in orbit when the original single LNB dishes were being installed.

If you simply want to add additional recievers to a single LNB dish, what you likely want is to add a multiswitch and not to fiddle with the dish at all.

While you can't buy from here, this should give you an idea of what I think you're actually looking for.

I have an eagleaspen 4x8 powered going from my elliptical dish, but I haven't had it for long so I can't really say anything about their products just yet. There are multiple locations to purchase from online.

Let me also further say that the R15 will require dual cable runs if you intend to use the dual tuner functionality, so a 3x4 multiswitch would give you the 4 outputs necessary to run 2 standard recievers and one dvr. Also, in my opinion the R15 is not so great, you may want to look into hitting up eBay for an older DirecTivo unit that can be hacked and has much better software than the R15. I have 3 Philips DSR708s that I am quite pleased with, and one that I've hacked for video extraction etc. The only problem I have with them thus far is that the fan is kinda noisy if you put it in a bedroom.

High def is another problem entirely, and you won't be touching that unless you replace the dish with the KAKU 5LNB dish.

If I am misunderstanding, please clarify.

Thanx for the reply. I actually got ahold of my co-worker who knows all about this stuff (I'd been trying to reach him all day). He explained it all to me. As we don't sell the dishes directly where I work, I checked out amazon, and I just purchased a new dish for us ( This one here if any one is interested )

Since we do sell the recievers, I can get a very good employee price on it. My Gram wasn't sure if she was still leasing here recivers/dish, but if she is I can easily afford to buy two basic recievers too if needed.
