Anyone know how to make one or know of a website on how to make one? I can't seem to find any 'how to' guides.

www.ripdifferent.com

If you want to back-up a movie DVD you own, then you will generally need two applications: an extractor and a compressor. MacTheRipper is pretty much the standard for extracting the Video_TS files from a DVD, but there are many options for burning the files to a DVD. Popcorn, from Roxio, is one such example.

Check out ripdifferent.com and then report back with any questions.

Actually I should have been more clear, I need a duplicator to make multiple copies of a DVD at a time. Not an application.

For what purpose?
Google is your friend.

Edit: Provide more specifics and you can get a more specific answer.
Or you can just create an image of the original DVD and then use disk copy to burn that image on demand, which works well if you don't need too many or don't know when you'll need more.

so anyway...lol...after somone assumed I was using for illegal purposes one of the moderators unlocked my thread ..thanks Scott

the duplicator is to be used for school purposes to make HOME MADE dvd duplicates for students and staff.

I did do a google search but no help, I am looking how to make a DVD duplicating machine that has about 5 DVD writers and uses some type of controll device to copy all at once and from what I understand you just need the writers and a hard drive. anyone ever make one of these? the ones for purchase seem quite expensive.

Well you need the computer that controls it all. The towers have a small computer that lets you create images and then burn them (or straight duplicate), that's the hard part.
You can get towers that hold a bunch of DVD drives that are hooked up to the computer, then you need software that can burn to them all. I don't know the details...at an old job we had an 8 disk CDRW tower that we used, but it was standalone.

You could build a linux box with a bunch of DVDRW drives, but I don't know the details on that.

I'm glad that stupid "illegal activity" alert post is gone. How embarrassing.
