I'll save the [jpg orgy] tag by just posting a link to my Flickr for anyone interested in seeing photos of my vacation.
Over 4000 miles of driving, 7 states, 13 days, 4 National Parks (Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite.)
Left Saturday the 22nd, drove from Bozeman, MT through Idaho and down into Utah. Drove as far as Bryce Canyon the first night in time to get some pics at dusk.
Day two, we went back to Bryce, took in the park as much as possible before leaving down the road for the Grand Canyon. Stayed outside of the Grand Canyon on night two.
Day three (Monday), we drove through the Mojave desert and ended up at my grandparent's house in Garden Grove, CA. There we stayed until the next Saturday, enjoying the company and the lovely acre they live on. Seemed like everything was blooming.
Saturday the 29th, we started back, heading north through LA, up through Visalia and into Sequoia National Park. We came out of the park and into Fresno late that night.
The next day, we went north, through Yosemite National Park and I visited Stockton for the first time in 12 years (I went to college there for a year.) We stayed near Sacramento (Williams, CA) that night.
We wanted to make our way up to Crater Lake, but due to time constraints, were not able to. I had school work to do for my online classes, so I had to choose to cut things short. We stayed in Eugene, OR for a night, then headed up to the Portland area to see my cousin.
On the way back, we stopped in Post Falls, ID to see two very good friends of mine who are expecting their second child. I love being able to see their three year old growing up.
Thursday, we got back to my place in Belgrade, near Bozeman. It's taken that much time for me to unwind a bit. I was exhausted.
I was driving most of the way, enjoying the beauty of our country for as much as possible, but also staying up late to do work (self-employment gave me the freedom to take the trip), work on my photos (took over 1000) and work on my online classes.
Overall, well worth the trip. I got to spend time with my grandparents, lots of time with my mom, getting to know her better as an adult rather than as a mom, and I got to see some amazing things.
