You know the little inserts that fall out of the magazine? I filled out one of those to try an issue of the "Official xBox Magazine". So I waited about a month to recieve my copy. It finally comes in the mail and I read it cover to cover. That's when I came to the conclusion that it is a horrible magazine. Content coverage was lame, articles were unintersting and I generally didn't get a "feel" for it. A day or two later, I get something in the mail along the lines of "If you would like to continue your subscription, please blah blah blah". Considering I didn't like the magazine, I wasn't going to purchase a subscription. They sent a few more attempts, then stopped. This was back in December.
Last week I get something in the mail again. Except this time it's from a collection agency. I've recently paid off all my collections debts, so this came as a surprise to me. I open it up and sure it enough, I was being sent to collections for twenty-something dollars for an unpaid subscription to that lame ass magazine. I immediatly call the number and get a nice recording asking how I would like to make my payment. Um, no. I scoured over the letter and found another number which I called to be answered by an automated machine. Oddly enough, option 5 was for "If you never purchased this subscription" which I promptly pressed.
Now I'm just waiting to see if I get another collection attempt on a magazine I never ordered. This ever happen to anyone else? I'm honestly quite annoyed by this and question the legality of it. How many people get scared of having thier credit dinged and pay for a subscription that they probably don't want?
