Someone recently mentioned that a lot of the users here and in the political/war lounge are windows users. So I'm curious as to what the ratio is. I allowed multiple choices since I know some (like me) use one OS at work and another at home. To be the most accurate though, try to pick what you choose to use.

To my knowledge, there is only one member at MacNN who exclusively uses a peecee.

Me.

I've never owned a Mac and have never used a Mac. The first one I ever laid eyes on was at a CompUSA store late last year.

Currently running WinXP using dual P3-800 (133FSB) Engineering Sample Xeons on a Supermicro S2DL3 motherboard. The processors and motherboard are exceedingly rare items - I'm quite certain this machine is the only one like it on Earth.

Sorry, folks, I don't want what everybody else has.

...so why are you running windows? Not arguing with your choice, just seems like you do want what everyone else has.

I just use Macs. PeeCees bore me. Linux is meh. Solaris is kinda cool but the university retired the Suns a while back.

I don't own a Mac, either. I have owned one twice, but I have gone back both times. As much as I'd like to switch, I get paid to write Windows apps and getting paid is a useful thing.

I've only owned Macs since 1992, but had to work on Windows boxes for pretty much every job I've had. At least I know my way around PCs now. Nothing I'm particularily proud of though.

If I change my way of living, and if I pave my streets with good times, will the mountain keep on giving…

Long story short, Mac OS X only.

My previous job, I worked at a local 'white box' PC company. The boss was pretty easy going, so I brought in my iBook G4 to work.

That's pretty amazing that you could rack up 8500 posts on a Mac-centered website when you've never used the product that is the main topic

And I agree with what everyone else says about choosing to be different. Windows is not the way to go...
But even then, being different for no reason other than to be different is just...well...retarded. Make decisions based on what's best for you, or what's wisest, or even just because your magic 8 ball said so, but not because you think it makes you different. Because there's a world of people out there who are 'different,' just like you.

Back on topic. I've owned Macs exclusively since 1996, I've got two running Linux (6500 and B&W G3) so I'm trying to learn more about that. My roommates use Windows exclusively so I know my way around that okay too.

Bleh.

Using a friggen computer or OS doesn't make anyone different, nor special.

I use all of the above and anything that gets a job done. My sense of being isn't tied to someone else's commercial product.
