Another Halo game will be released, Halo 3 for XBOX 360 sometime in 2007.
Can't wait for this game, they should be taking this game to another level
on XBOX 360.

Ya it is a pretty cool trailer. Halo 1 was meh but Halo 2 was awesome.

I saw the trailer on my 360 yesterday and was not that impressed.

I did not like the original Halo much, and I haven't played Halo 2. Maybe that's why I'm not anticipating Halo 3 as much, I dunno.

It is a teaser, they never show anything. If you didn't play Halo 2 it won't make much sense either.

Halo 1 had a far better single player, Halo 2 obviously made xBox Live a household name.

I am eagerly looking forward to Halo 3, mostly for online killing and such. In fact, Halo was the only reason I bought xBox, and will be the reason to get 360.

If you did play Halo 2, you'd know that there's nothing particularly special about it. It's just like every other first person shooter.... except that it's on a XBox. I guess. First person shooters generally sucked on consoles, I guess that's why it was so popular. Or something like that. I still haven't figured out why people like it so much.

I found the level design in Halo 1 to be repetitive and awful. I really didn't like all the backtracking and the hallways that all looked the same.

Halo 2 had more outdoor and non-repetivive designs.

I liked both Halo games a lot. I can't wait for 3.

That said, this teaser didn't do much for me... I mean, it's a teaser. WHAT! BUNGIE IS MAKING HALO 3! I HAD NO IDEA!!! OMG!!!!1!!

Eh, whatever. It's still cool as hell that I can download all these hi-def trailers over Xbox live. Too bad the servers have been jammed up like crazy.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Agreed, but having such a small portion of the game taking place on Earth was a HUGE mistake IMO. We spent all of the last game fighting on the ring world, and most of this game doing the same thing. The indoor levels (Arbiter, Gravemind) were awful and annoying.

It was like a polished version of Halo, when it really needed to be a real sequel full of new stuff. At least half the game should have taken place on Earth fighting in huge urban enviornments. Then a level or two on the ring world, and a handful playing as the Elite.

You really can't deny the awesomeness of Two Betrayals, you fight through these little hallways, then exit to a massive outside cavern, you then fight your way past countless tanks to take to the sky. Amazing, and never done with such seamlessness before.

Most people I know haven't even played the single player aspect of Halo 2, they just bought it and promptly signed into Live.

I'm not a big fan of campaign mode or the storylines. Gimme multiplayer!

I'd like to see if they are adding any new weapons, changing some, how the online play will be. By the time it's out, I'll probably have a 360. I've held off so far.

This is one of those games I would buy one because of. That and a new Splinter Cell.

Yeah, that sucked. It reeked of clichéness. I don't think I can count the number of times I've seen some sort of "Plasma Beam Shooting up into the Heavens" with epic music playing in the background... Same old, same old, only difference is the plasma beam is less pixilated this time.

I hear you can use THREE weapons at once this time. OMG OMG OMG! THREE! And... they say "sh*t" in the game. OMG!

The sad thing is that these monkeys are willing to pay $50 for the same thing over and over. They're basically taking half the salary a family in India makes per year, and throwing it down the toilet.

You can say that about almost every video game ever made. Yet the last time I checked the industry pulled in over $7 billion last year. The same thing can be fun as long as there's different colors going across the screen

Not to mention that for those of us old enough to remember the Marathon series, part of Halo's appeal is being able to play (roughly) the same thing over again. For me, anyway.

Master Chief is in Halo. The poster commented that it is the same thing over and over yet Mario is at Mario Party 124 plus been in every silly situation... Mario Tenis, Golf etc.

Halo seems to be almost a genre in itself. Sure it's a FPS, but add co-op, stunning visuals, AI that's gotten quite smart, and you have something very different. I like the story arc of the games too; that's an important point. Many, many successful game franchises have ignored continuity and consistency for the ability to incorporate cool new stuff, but Halo doesn't have those problems.

Oh, and the music is awesome too.

Halo 1 didn't have online multiplayer.

So yeah, not 50$ for the same thing.

Halo 2 also did something else cool. In parts of the game you HAD to play as the enemy (not just in the multiplayer aspect) so it added a cool perspective to the game.

Also the levels don't feel like levels. Meaning they don't jump to a black screen and say loading level 2. Most of the levels have transitions from the cut scenes to the gameplay. For example on the second level when you ship crashes you get up and your vision is distorted for a few seconds until you leave the wreckage. Many other parts of the levels also drastically change what is needed to be done (from FPS to driving a tank) without a loading screen. It really brings you into the game.

[deadpan] ...because Unreal Tournament and Half-Life/Counter-Strike don't have co-op and stunning visuals. Halo is a completely different genre. [/deadpan]

Blech. I don't like FPS at all but there is something different about Halo that makes it better.

My guess is everyone who doesn't like it hasn't played it much if at all.

Actually that's a major turn-off for me. It was a cheap attempt at adding "flavor" to the game.

I owned special edition Halo 2 but stopped playing after I reached that part. I simply don't find it fun or clever.

Well give it a chance. Some levels suck, some are amazing. The outdoor levels are some of the best ever.

I like the 360 as well, but it's not the best thing ever. If I had to list my biggest gripes, they would be...

Not a huge leap over the previous gen
Overall cost of ownership is high (accessories, Live, downloads, they are nickel and diming you to death)
Lack of killer apps... so far

Those complaints are pretty minor overall though. It doesn't look like the PS3 is a giant leap either and better games are on the way. The games we have now are alright, just nothing that I'm going to remember 5 years from now. I love that every game is in hi-def and takes full advantage of my TV. That's the best part really.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I don't see why people had a problem playing the bad guy in Halo. He played exactly the same. The only difference was the cloaking, which was cool.

I don't get the hate the single player game got in Halo 2. I thought it was great. Sure, the story was crap and it ended abruptly, but it was fun while it lasted.

It costs $300 and I'd want to not have to buy one just to play the game? That'd be my guess.

1) Nobody has a 1080p TV. Next to no games will be 1080p because it eats CPU for only a slightly better pic
2) True, but they can if they work hard
3) Who needs a media card reader? You want them to pack 8 different card types on it?
4) Pay $100 more for a ton of more stuff not just the HD
5) What do you mean?
6) So? HD-DVD is just hitting the streets and costs $500
7) What you mean?
8) Get over it

The Cube looks like a blurry mess, but the gameplay experience is more or less the same.

I've got an xBox 360 connected via 720p component cables to a 32" LCD HDTV. Its great. I could easily waste way to much time playing, so I've got to manage my time carefully. And hurray for the Blockbuster down the street carrying XB360 games .
