Yep. Written by and starring Keillor. He is one of the most talented people in the world today. PHC (the radio show) is just fantastic - witty, inteligent, funny.

I was brought up in small towns and baptised a narrow tie Lutheran but have since recovered from the shock of the ice cold font water that January morning and realize the blessings abundant in my life. Thanks for the joy your show has brought into my heart. How can I bring your show to my new hometown? I know nothing of the smoke and mirrors or market schemes necessary to accomplish this, maybe hire some muscle or try bribery, whatever it takes. I talk to locals about your show and they have heard the show far in the past and surprisingly few knew you're back on the air! All approve of the idea but are apathetic to its accomplishment.

Steve, the people of Aberdeen would be much more excited about getting a TV show to come to Aberdeen, such as the "Today" show or "American Idol". A radio show is always going to be underwhelming. But a TV show would come with enormous vans and a crew of fifty and big stars and your relatives all across America would tune in. All you need to do is organize a mass letter-writing campaign to NBC. This could easily snowball to a million or two million letters, and when it does, NBC will respond. Our old radio show broadcasts from Seattle on July 22 and then from Pullman on Oct. 7. We like the stations there and they asked us to come and so we'll go. It's no big deal.

I love Lindsay Lohan but Paris and her dorky loud mouthed friend were just doing what young kids do all the time. Saying naughty things just for the fun of saying it. And he wanted to keep his rich g/f amused so he said things that she may not have wholeheartedly endorsed, but she still thought was funny.

I thought they were funny, too.

And I'm not a big Paris Hilton fan. But this is just kids being kids.

Oh, and do you think they MAY have been drunk/high?

I was in St. Paul last summer when they were filming.

The Soundtrack is on iTunes - listen to Lohan's song and compare it to the other voices. Hers is so weak in comparison... I guess she was brought on simply for the star power she carries...

The rest of the movie looks great though.

Still, Lohan is only so-so as an actress, IMO.

In that age group, Amanda Bines is MUCH more talented and isn't screwed up in the head.

But I wish she'd marry my teenaged son in about 12 years. She's cute, very funny, and has a social conscience:

Never knew this movie was coming out. Could be interesting. I used to be REALLY into NPR, but not so much anymore. Public Radio International's Marketplace was my favorite show. It's not produced by NPR, per se, but was carried almost exclusively on NPR stations. Great show.

I agree with trying to maintain the thread focus at LEAST somewhat. I wonder if after watching PHC we'll want to see another episode of it next week?

And will we feel somewhat the poorer by having to "be satisfied" with JUST the radio show?

Yes, but the young girls haven't made their name by mocking small town America.

I used to listen to PHC each week, right up until I got the joke. I imagine that some folks who like PHC would be *offended* at a show about all the folks down in the 'hood. But they are the same thing. PHC is just another way for elitists to mock ordinary people and call it "satire."

Meh. I'm from an Iowa town of 2,500, and I find the show very funny and not at all offensive. It's one of my favorite things on the radio.

Maybe I'm slow, but I don't get the joke.

Either that, or you're hyper-sensitive-dellusional.

If anything, PHC holds up small-town America, without belittling the urban folk (as so many small-town folk feel the need to do).

Regardless, I'm looking forward to this film. It looks great. My grandmother was obsessed with PHC; she even did all the geneaology of Garrison Keillor in a futile attempt to convert him to Mormonism. She used to send me audio tapes of the show to listen to (God rest her soul; hopefully she's at Lake Wobegone in the Sky).
