What is the Apple Stores return policy?

I want to get a MacBook but I am nervous about all the whine/heat reports.
If I were to buy it from the Apple Store what is the return policy. If I get home and the thing is whining and hot can I bring it back for a straight return or does the store have to determine if the heat and whine is out of spec? Can they just throw a "this is normal" at me and I am screwed? Or do they charge a re-stocking fee the second I crack it open?
I am also wanting to get a 30" LCD but if it has one dead pixel I wouldn't be happy. Ideally I would like to open it in the store and check it out before I pay for it.
At other stores like bestbuy there let you return anything no matter the reason so I would be safer buying from them no?

It's like a 15% restocking fee for buying something and returning it - unless someone at the store likes you.
Personally, consider buying something refreshed (opened but returned) because on those items you can look at them beforehand and if you return them there isn't a restocking fee.
I personally wouldn't buy a Rev A MacBook. Wait another few months and then buy one. In a hurry or something?

So what is with all these reports of people being on their 4th MBP because of whine? I can't imagine they are charging a 15% restocking fee every time.

They were macintouch reports so there is no way to get ahold of them.

They probaby mailed the laptop into AppleCare, and Apple mailed it back to them. I don't know how it is with Apple, but usually if a product is returned more than 3 times for a warranty repair, they'll just replace the product.
