Why did they change this show? I'm a big fan of Goren and Eames... but these new people are killing the show. I'm literally skipping every non-goren/eames show.

Am I the only one disliking the new characters?

I LOVE Goren & Eames!

But I'm gaining a deep affection for Logan & Barek!

Logan was Lenny Briscoe's partner years ago.

Detective Logan (Golden-Globe nominated Noth, “The Perfect Man,” “Sex and the City”), who was exiled to Staten Island after punching a city councilman 10 years ago on “Law & Order,” teams with partner Detective Barek (Emmy Award-nominated Sciorra, “The Sopranos”), a brilliant criminal profiler who rose from Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill streets to the highest ranks of the NYPD and spent two post-9/11 years with the FBI.
I heard that Vincent D'onofrio was becoming a difficult presence on the set. I think I heard something about left-wing politics...or something like that. The producers wanted him to know they appreciate his talent and what he brings to the show but that he's not an irreplaceable 'monkey.'

There is NO ONE with Det. Logan's attitude. He's a smart ass tough guy. I like him and I think he and Barek have just the right chemistry.

I feel they add to the strength of the show.

There is nothing about Goren & Eames that I dislike, at all! They are great!

But of those four, Logan is the only one I could actually imagine subduing a perp and cuffing him.

He and Detectives Stabler, "Fin" and Benson from SVU, and Green & Fontana from L&O are the ones I can 'see' actually making arrests.

As much as I like and liked the other characters I had trouble envisioning them actually functioning as a patrolman or beat cop, which is what every detective must be before getting the gold shield.

But what's the deal with Capt. Deakins??? Why did HE leave? I hope it was HIS decision and not the producer's.

abe,

Thanks for the reply, but I just can't enjoy "mr. big" being the maine guy. He is probably great, but if the wanted to bring him back, they should have bought him back on the main law and order. IMHO, Vincent D'onofrio IS irreplaceable... he makes the show. He is based on sherlock Holmes... and is fantastic because of his interesting insight. The counterparts are simply too different. Great for another show, but not this one.

FYI, Capt. Deakins has Bells Palsey... in the real world (which is why he had an eye patch). I wish him the best... he is a great actor.

Oh MAN!

I really like the guy! I, too, wish him all the best!

Thanks for the info.

I ALMOST share your feelings (about Goren) exactly.

After doing a bit of Googling I see that a different story emerges explaining the changes in the show.

Wikipedia

Personal life

D'Onofrio was married first to actress Greta Scacchi from 1991 to 1993, and then to model/photographer Carin van der Donk from 1997 to 2003. D'Onofrio has two children, daughter Leila George, with Scacchi, born March 20, 1992, and his son Elias, with van der Donk, born in 2000.

D'Onofrio experienced a health scare in 2004 when he collapsed on the set of Law & Order: Criminal Intent on November 10. He collapsed again at home a few days later and was taken back to the hospital for more thorough testing. He was subsequently diagnosed with exhaustion. Subsequently, series producers decided to lessen his workload for the 2005–2006 season by having him appear in alternating episodes with Chris Noth headlining episodes in which D'Onofrio does not perform.

Actor Vincent D'Onofrio Out of Hospital

LOS ANGELES - "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" star Vincent D'Onofrio was released from a New York hospital Friday after a diagnosis of exhaustion, a spokeswoman said.

D'Onofrio, 45, who stars in the CTV drama as police Detective Robert Goren, had fainted on two occasions this month.

He was resting at home in New York and was expected to return to work next week, series spokeswoman Pam Ruben Golum said.

The actor fainted Nov. 10 and was hospitalized after rehearsing a strenuous scene that included climbing for the New York-based drama. He was discharged after two days but fainted again at home Monday.

He returned to the hospital for further observation and testing, which did not reveal any health problems beyond exhaustion, Golum said.
I say ALMOST because if Goren was unable to continue FOR ANY REASON, I'd like the show to continue.

ugh... I didn't know that... I thought they could break up Goren and Eames and have them with new partners... and weave them in the stories.

It's such a fantastic show.

Annabella Sciorra is very pretty. I like SVU much better than CI, so I really don't care about the changes.

ok so I cant even remember which Law and Order this happeened in, but does ANYbody remember when the hot 'n blonde ADA was getting the boot because she wasnt enough of a hard-ass and she's sitting there in Senator Thompsons office and she says "Arthur, just tell me this, does it have anything to do with me being a lesbian?"

Am I the only one that had a big What the F in response? Like, where whe hell did that come from, since I dont think it was ever any part of an episode...

Just strange.

Yes, I remember that. And yes, it was completely out of left field. There were no previous hints that she was a lesbian (although she was indignant when there was a case involving gay parents or something and made it known she didn't agree with the Office's position.)

I believe the better line would have been, "Arthur, just tell me this, does it have anything to do with, despite the fact I'm pretty damn hot, I'm a wooden actor and my character just hasn't ever developed it because of it?"
