I'm sure this guy did get one, but it's probably an isolated incident. One dumb employee probably broke the street date. It happens all the time.

It doesn't mean that it's available everywhere.

Just picked one up at the local Target. Went to two Walmarts and one other Target before I found one with stock.

Got the new Super Mario Brothers which is way cool. I'll probably have to get Mario Kart DS too...

Ya seriously. Kinda sucks having to buy the same hardware so soon again but gameboy fans are used to that.

No one here has one. And the people on the phone sound annoyed. They must be getting a lot of calls, considering ever message board I post on has a thread about the street date being broken.

Not me, I've held off on my DS purchase until now. I learned my lesson with the GBA. However it looks like the DS lite has everything I want. Brighter screen, better form factor and a great library of games. I'm getting one as soon as I can sell my PSP.

Of course I am an easy sell, I collect Nintendo stuff. But the screen brightness alone is enough to make it worthwhile, even though like the upgrade from GBA to GBA SP I'm annoyed Nintendo didn't get it right the first time.

Who says anyone who already has a DS has to get a Lite?

I went after work to Target, but they didn't have anything. You could see they were gearing up for the change since they had one blue DS and that was it. I can wait until later in the month to get it and Mario.

Today I went to Target in the hopes of getting one early. The lady in the electronics department said they had a large number of DS Lites sitting in the back room. I got all excited until she told me she wasn't allowed to sell them until the 11th.

I know. My original DS exploded this morning upon the release of the DS Lite. I was so sad. I guess I'll have to buy a new one because I can't use my old DS anymore.

Apparently, once people found out about them, Target started figuring it out and telling stores to put their stock away. I was at the one I bought mine at later that day to get one for a friend and they were all gone. No way they went through the 50 or so they had in stock...

My wife called me from Target today to ask if I needed anything so I asked her to check and see if they had any in stock. When she asked the sales guy, he said that they didn't have any for sale, but he had one of his own if she wanted to see it. He was going to go into the breakroom and get it. She politely declined.

I've been trying to find one here in Japan for a week now. It was really tough. Went to four major toy stores and everyone was sold out. Sighh.... luckily I found one that had been returned.... along with a 'used' copy of Mario Kart.

Only in Japan do used games cost more than the new copy.

Why don't you ever post US sales where the DS and PSP are rather even?

Xbox 360 - 295,381
PlayStation 2 - 206,995
Game Boy Advance - 169,115

I'm willing to bet the DS numbers are low in the US right now because most people are holding off their purchase until the DS Lite comes out. I'm anxious to see what the June/July numbers are going to look like.

I bet it would be to you if the numbers were reversed.

But seriously, since the PSP retails for $249 while the DS is $149, I bet the Sony guys are pleased. Isn't the DS lite even cheaper?
