I mean besides the constant crap about wanting to configure your system so it plays all types of media, etc.

I mean, it's in Version 10 and I still can't fast-forward a saved video. This is pretty basic stuff, isn't it?

The Windows version is worse because they are always pushing content on you. I just want to watch a stupid video I downloaded!!

OK, nuff ranting.

It's bad because it touches itself at night.

It's because iPod users steal music.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

I don't think the Mac version sucks. I have seen worse (QuickTime prior to version 7 and Windows Media for example). It can't fast forward because it runs under that "streaming video" paradigm. Same reason VLC can not fast forward.

I think the entire company is flawed... from top down. They have a "we can do that too" attitude... to the point where they can't seem to do anything well.

Once, LONG ago, I thought RealPlayer was actually a nifty little program (for the time... they had great compression technologies).

Now that broadband, DivX and other technologies have taken off... I just don't see why someone doesn't buy them up.

Real has excellent codecs, RMVB is awesome, and their Mac OS X player is rather decent when compared with the windows couterpart.

Too bad nobody really wants them as Apple and MS have their own agendas for media formats/players.

IMHO, VLC is one of the best players around... and it's buggy.

Quicktime Player is OK, and the Real/MS stink.

It's because they're always bitchiing about Apple, the iPod, iTunes, and the Fairplay DRM.

It only asks once (unless you never tell it to go ahead; then it keeps asking.) It asks since if it leaves browsers running when it configures the system, they can overwrite its settings, and it doesn't want to make the browsers quit without asking first.

If it doesn't configure the system, then browsers won't hand off clips to the player correctly.

Holding down the fast-forward/next clip button does do fast-forwarding, though not all kinds of media support rapid playback.

But I don't want it to keep asking or to go ahead. Why can't I click "Never"?
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.
