2516 upload, 418 download. Pretty consistent with what I get from the BroadbandReports.com speed tests.

I also use the SBC/AT&T speed tests as a cross check. They come out pretty much the same.

5121kbps down / 306kbps up, not as fast as my technical limit of 6000/384kbps, but I do have Azureus open (though I capped it to 1/1k during the test). It seems as if the download speed test was still "accelerating" when it finished, I don't know how accurate it is. Was cool to watch at least.

EDIT: I took the test again and it showed 6131kbps download, 289kbps upload. That download speed is about right, I think, when my connection is at it's fastest.

3469 down, 426 up (residential cable). A few subsequent runs all had different download speeds (some radically slower) but consistent 426 upload speed.

Agreed it was fun to watch

I got 4774 kbps down, 350 up. That's a residential cable connection over Airport and with a couple of other people using the connection in the house, so it probably varies a lot depending on the time for me.

At work, I get 3496 kbps down, 2133 kbps up. Which is odd, considering we're supposed to have a 10 Mbit connection...hmm....

At home, I get 1281 kbps down, 713 kbps up.

Wow. 1755/287. The Internets must be in a good mood today. I should try again this afternoon—my guess would be I’d get a 200/20, then.

3006/215.

That's not as fast as it's supposed to be. Really thinking about upgrading to VDSL.

I mean it. I'm on a long working holiday in Mauritius and the apartment's LAN is that slow. I had a 10MB/s connection back home in Rome with fastweb.it

That thing is WILDLY inaccurate if you're accessing it from Europe.

It tells me I've got between 1 and 4 Mbit/sec downstream (I re-ran it several times and got different results).

A Swedish speedtest I just tried told me I have between 4 MBit and 10 MBit (most runs were between 4 and 7, it hit 10 MBit just once).

One site in Germany just told me I have 3MBit (7 MByte test file), then 2MBit (5 MByte test file), then 400kbps (all smaller test files).
[Edit: Just to make sure the variance wasn't due to the fact that I'm doing these over an Airport network, I tried again on my wired-to-the-DSL-modem Mac mini, and it gave me 1.9MBit on the 7MByte test file. ]

**** bandwidth test sites.

I'm actually paying for 16MBit, and I know that the theoretical bandwidth can actually be attained, because I've had downloads transfer that fast.

They're all pretty consistent in verifying the 800kbps upstream that I'm supposed to be seeing, though.

My current service is Rogers at 6000 down and 800 up, in Toronto. I'm considering downgrading my service to 5000 down and 384 up, cuz it's noticeably cheaper. While I consistently hit close to 800 up, I very rarely get anything over 5000 down, so I'd only be losing out on the upload side (which I don't use that much).

4772 down, 358 up. Standard residential Roadrunner account. I'd trade some of that download for upload, gladly.

I'll bet nobody noticed how the graphic at the bottom of the speed test app's display looks like the Man from UNCLE logo... Or remembers the show at all...

Anyway, thanks for bringing this up, ambush. It got me poking around at my current service; AT&T is now running a promotion for "elite" service that goes up to 6Mbps download speed. Unfortunately their order line is closed for the weekend, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to order.

Somewhere else, I saw someone point out that keeping an eye on your broadband contract's anniversary month is a good thing, because you can often capitalize on promotions and get even better rates and speeds by ordering at the right time-and you can avoid losing time-limited rate plans by ordering new ones before the current ones expire.

Hmmm...

Funny you say this, considering that I'm thinking of dropping from my speeds (4558/771) to something similar to yours, to save maybe US$100 a year I'm guessing. I suppose I don't upload that much stuff so it's not as critical for me, but when I do upload stuff, the speed is definitely welcome.

What to do...

From Prague I get anywhere from 350-4900 down and 200-1900 up. I ran it 5 or 6 times. Hardly accurate. I have 10mb down and 2mb up service.

3244kbps up, 198 kbps down.

All I have to say is this test is basically bogus because I have Adelphia's basic service 256kbps up and down. I think there's something seriously wrong with this test.

I wish I took a screen shot.

I noticed it . I thought nobody would notice either. And I'm only 20 years old. heh. I loved that show.

Did another test on a Belgian server and it gave me 3381/298 that's 423/37 KB/sec. I pay for a 4mbit down/256kbit up ADSL line.

The VDSL option here would give me 17mbit down/400kbit up. 400kbit is pretty sad compared to the download speed.
