People had talked about what was going to replace the GMA 950 graphics. We knew it was going to use the G965 chipset, but now we have a name for the GPU too. It's Intel GMA X3000.

It should be an improvement over GMA 950, but I have no idea how much of an improvement.

X3000 wow... I'm glad we're getting something with such a cool name!

Hopefully it will be at least 50% faster than the ATI Radeon X1900 XT.

Hopefully with a fraction of the power consumption. I was testing a GeForce 7950 GX2 the other day at work, and that card (which is actually just two 7900 GTs slapped together) draws less power than a single X1900 XT. ATI has some serious catching up to do in the power consumption department with their high-end parts.

what are the chances that the MacBook gets a GMA 965 refresh in Q3 of 2006? I'm guessing that, what with being integrated graphics, GMA 965 is aimed at entry level laptops and desktops. From the slim tidbits of unsubstantiated rumor surfacing, GMA 965 looks like a nice improvement (as far as gaming is concerned) over the 950. Including this in a MacBook would most likely sway me into instant purchase mode.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
