Even the pulp free kind you get at the store has some particles in it, and I can always feel them (And it gets twice as bad when you get to the bottom). I about sh!t myself the other day when I opened my fridge to find the pulp-free OJ container I hadn't used in a week had suddenly separated into two visibly distinct layers. Now I find I have trouble finishing off the bottom of containers because the 'pulp-free'-ness just gets worse and worse the lower you go.
God I hate pulp.

"Pulp free" actually just means, "We cant wait to see you gag when you reach the bottom, pulp haters!" I despise pulp. I've just come to accept that if I want orange juice (which I do quite often) that I'm going to have to continue to build up a tolerance to chunky orange pieces.

Being a bitter skeptic, I say you are merely immune to the mini-particles that find their way in.
That or you Germans take your pulp-removal as serious as your... I'd better stop now.

I don't hate pulp, but I usually get pulp-free OJ. Can't say I've ever found pulp in a glass that was supposed to be pulp-free, even at the bottom.

Yes, I feel the particles cross my lips and I have to resist the urge to start chewing.

Sheesh. Next time, try shaking the container before you pour each glass, that way you get an even amount of pulp in each glass throughout the whole container.
I like to chew my orange juice. I buy "Heavy Pulp" Torpicana.

Trust me. I hate pulp. There is no pulp in any brand of orange juice unless it's the "with pulp" kind (which I hate).

Our what? Ambitions to take over the world?
I guess it's a matter of "national taste". If most Americans like a little bit pulp, then that is what is produced, and if Germans don't like it than that is what they get.

I like the Asian orange pop. They add pulp to several brands of their orange-flavoured soft drinks.
Makes it actually drinkable. I don't much like orange juice or orange drinks without pulp.

Not true. Orange juice from orange juice concentrate is not "fake". It's just water removed, transported, water added. The end result is practically identical 100% orange juice. And there is 100% orange juice that is not made out of concentrated orange juice (which is sort of a waste trucking the water from Spain here when there is already water here, but anyway) and this too doesn't have pulp.

I had a TV quality joke, but I'm too scared someone on the forum would freak. I try not to make too many waves around here.

My parents must have been purists then. I can't say I'm VERY well versed in OJ.

I don't know if you've ever tried Orangina, but it's some of the best stuff I've ever tasted. It has 2% pulp in it, just the right amount.

Yeah, that's in Germany. For some reasons, German's never get any pulp.
But the roange juice in Germany also stinks, compared to most US juice. It never tastes as fresh as some premium brands sold in the US>

LOL, if you can't taste the difference between OJ from concentrate and OJ from non-concentrate, you either had real shitty non-conc OJ, or you taste buds are dead.

I don't mind pulp, but my sister hates it. I remember being bored one year and filling a tropicana carton labeled Pulp Free with OJ from an Extra Pulp container I had.

*shrugs* Run your OJ through a fine sieve as you pour it then if pulp bothers you that much.
Still no one has explained what it is about the pulp that is unappealing. Does it just feel weird in your mouth? Does it make you physically ill? I mean you're drinking the juice that comes from this fruit that contains pulp. Seems reasonable to me that there might be some pulp in there.

The company Clearly Canadian almost went under because of it and they are a huge company with many other products.

Let me put it this way. When you're walking around and you run into a swarm of mosquitos, do you like the feeling of them flying into your face and such? Because that's what its like finding pulp in liquid.

Call me picky, but when I buy something labeled pulp-free I expect it to be pulp-free, not low-in-pulp.

the thing that bothers me with the tropicana and asst'd brands of orange juice is they seemed to have changed their pulp policy. it used to be you would get orange juice with pulp, or without. the with pulp seemed to have a normal amount of pulp, a naturally occuring amount of pulp, and this was satisfying. then they started in with no pulp, some pulp or lots of pulp. the some pulp and lots of pulp having a damn strange amount of pulp. the some not enough and lots of being just downright strange.
