I want to machine dedicated to iChat AV. Is this combination possible?

No.

iChat AV requires G3/600mhz minimum in order to do any of the AV functions.

Patching it with iChatUSBCam only brings that minimum down to G3/500mhz. The 233mhz iMac is still too slow.

Try iGlasses. It may help you bypass Apples minimums.

Cool stuff, didn't know about this - I've got a 500Mhz iBook and the parents have a G5 iMac with iSight - very useful, thanks guys.
