No contest. Get the MacBook. There are no significant advantages to getting that G4 PB.

Plus, you get a modern processor, FrontRow, iSight, MagSafe (what a cool invention)

And: the MacBook is future-proofed for software.

MacBook. It's going to last longer, and the extra inch of screen real estate is nice.

Get the Macbook, even though the aluminum looks better IMO, the macbook will last longer when talking about software.

MacBook. No questions...

Faster CPU, bigger screen, BootCamp (if you need it) remote control, easy access to the hard drive, FrontRow, iSight, MagSafe (as others have said), etc. etc.

The speed increase alone would make it worth it for me.

Depends. If price is an overriding issue, a G4 PB might be a good idea (wink, wink - I'm selling one in the Marketplace forum)... but it will become outdated faster than a Macbook.

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

How are games on both? The G4 has a dedicated graphics card... but if the processor is too much of a bottle-neck for that to make any difference, then get the MacBook.

Yeah, I would consider getting a 12" for the savings in weight/bulk, but not for the same price as a MacBook.

Well, the other thing about the PowerBook is that it can run the Classic environment. If you see yourself needing to use Classic for something, then you'd be best off getting the PowerBook.

Also, the PowerBook does have a "better" graphics card, although I put the word "better" in quote marks because it's actually not that good. It's just that the graphics card on the MacBook is absolutely worthless.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

MacBook

It is superior in every aspect except for the graphics and I think the PB looks a little better...

I disagree. The GMA950 can decode HD, while the nvidia5200 cannot. For anyone except a hardcore gamer, this chip is the better chip. And a hardcore gamer wouldn't be playing on a $1099 laptop anyway.

The GMA950 cannot decode HD. The nVidia GeForce Go 5200 is better than GMA950 in almost every way. That said, it still sucks, and paired with a G4, it sucks even more. The reason the MacBook does well with HD is because the H.264 HD decode is 100% CPU, and the CPU in the MacBook is way, way, way better than the G4 in the PowerBook.

"High Definition Hardware Motion Compensation to support high definition hi-bitrate MPEG2 media playback"

Uh huh...

Like I said, H.264 HD decode has nothing to do with the GPU. It's all CPU.

Basically what everyone is saying is that you'd be a fool for going with the PowerBook.

*slams the gavel*
