I am so damn glad Apple did not start doing this when they went intel. I see PC users leave these silly stickers on their laptops for the lifetime of the product as they think when they resell the computer it helps keep the value up or something silly.

Anywho, I ran into this PC online and it inspired me to start this thread:

I count 6!

my thinkpad has 2 of them, a centrino one and a designed for XP one. ive never bothered to take them off. i would probably need to go find some goo gone or some other solvent to get rid of the sticky and its not worth the hassle.

I've seen fine... it was at Best buy.

It's sad when I see people with a 3+ year old laptop... and they still have the stickers on. I once saw a protective plastic film over the screen (one that you would normally peal away).

I couldn't help but laugh...

At my work we were handing out the new laptops for the year, they all had the plastic sticky sheet over the screen. Nearly every laptop that I've visted to repair or troubleshoot still had the sticky plastic over the screen.

I tear it off immediately. Most of them thought it was a "filter" or something to keep the glare down. (These are matte screens.)

What I love are are the laptops still in use today with stickers that say this:

Remember how iPods came with that big sticker on the screen that says "Do not steal music". I saw a guy on the subway that was using his iPod with that sticker still on it! He didn't just buy it either as the plastic was dirty and he had no other bags with him.

My work laptop has five stickers on the palmrests and one Windows holigram-thingy-sticker on the bottom. However, three of the were placed there by the corporate IT department, and I think I get thirty lashes with a wet noodle if I remove any of them.

It has an additional sticker covering the Dell logo on the top of the laptop, but that one is my personal addition. It used to be a old-skool Tenicolor Apple logo, but I recently upgraded to a more modern White Apple logo. It confuses people!

Thing that drives me more nuts than the stickers on laptops is when their crooked. I mean, come on... put 'em on straight. Crooked right from the factory. Nearly every HP laptop I've seen has at least one crooked sticker.

How about the big ones on the back of the screen? Roomie of mine in college got a laptop with a nice big sticker covering HALF the top of his laptop.

Annoying.

Oh ya, pretty neat.

We should also count how many useless LED lights and buttons are on the damn thing.

Other than the swivel display and the pen, most PC share the same amount of buttons and lights.

I don't even like badging on my cars. I hate badging and stickers in general.

Ya me too. The stickers are always the same too: a duck silhouette, a dog silhouette, a little 'W', an oval decal with the letters of some place they've visited before, the flag of some country where they aren't from, and then the logo of their alma matter.

The alma matter sticker is okay but everything else, no thanks.

It's as if they're saying, "Because I bought these stickers, you can see that I'm enjoying a very preppy lifestyle, and I want you to know about it". Even though they've probably never been near a duck blind.

I'd maaaaybe put an "iowa state university" logo/wording in my back window. But nothing else. If you really want to promote your school get the personalized ISU license plate.

At my job, I'm required to place 3 stickers on every incoming Mac. A barcode sticker, a yearly inventory sticker, and a large (about 1"x3") sticker that says "THIS COMPUTER IS *** PROPERTY. DO NOT INSTALL OR REMOVE SOFTWARE OR MOVE WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING COMPUTER SUPPORT."

What's best is every year, the inventory people come through and stick a NEW yearly inventory sticker on TOP of the old one. So a 4 year old Mac has 4 inventory stickers caked on it.

It kills me every time. I've actually had users beg me to not put so many stickers on it (I only support Mac users, and you know how they get, hehe). Sorry, but it's policy!

Found another one!

Good thing they put that GIANT webcam included sticker on there or people might have walked right by it.

Question. Why the hell do they not just put this crap on floor models? Once you bought it you really need to see that crap out of the box?
