Before Search toolbars were all the rage there used to be a way to create a somewhat PopUp Bookmark within your tool bar.

For example, i'd click on the bookmark called "Google" and a window would popup and ask me to enter my search phrase. Once I did it ran the search for me.

I need to create something similiar to this for a different purpose. Does anyone have any websites that still detail how to do this? I've searched but I can't find anything.

shucks.

My suggestion would be to use Sogudi

You simply type a preset keyword into safari's menu bar followed by a search string and it does the rest. For example, to get the link for Sogudi, I went to my menu bar and typed "vt sogudi" and it went right to versiontracker (it comes with some sites preset, like 'vt' for versiontracker, 'dict' for dictionary, 'img' for google image, etc) and found me Sogudi. It's painless to set up and customize and comes in handy quite a bit.

That's not what I want. I actually want to do this so I can create an Applet here at work. We have a site that we use to look up ID numbers, similiar to sku's for products. It's a web address + numbers. I was hoping to find an easy way to do this.

I'd need this to work on a variety of computers.
