Long story short:
I really don't like the wheels on my car.
I like these black wheels on eBay:

(click for ebay link)
Most people I talk to think they would look great and that the price is great too. But my Dad and my best friend both don't like them at all.
What do you think?
my current wheels:
my car with eBay wheels (quick 'n dirty photoshop):
untill about a half hour ago I didn't have a good picture of my car to photoshop but I had already made a photoshop of a similar Jeep I found via Gogle Image Search. I only photoshopped the front wheel, but it's still pretty good:
http://www.kmurph.net/jeep/rims.jpg
PS: these wheels are all 17". I don't want "dubs"... so don't suggest 26" spinners on anything like that.

this is your first car, right? just have the ones you've got powdercoated or something.
the wheels are fine, but sinking money into cosmetic mods for your first car seems foolish.

Only if you sell your current ones. Personally I don't see the point. It's an SUV, not a race car. What is hte point in tricking it out? Unless you're one of those idiot 'bling' dudes who throws chrome **** all over his SUV I don't get it. Just rock the stockers and get a new exhaust for better mpg and more power.

Actually, I switched out the front grill with a black and silver/aluminum one, it used to be all chrome up front. I don't like chrome.
Would different exhaust really help MPG? i thought it just made it annoyingly loud and obnoxious

2nd car.... just like the 1st, but 4 years newer and 60,000 less miles.
1st car:
Black 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/ 70,000 miles
2nd car:
Black 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/ 10,000 miles
I like black Jeeps

Yep. Free flowing exhaust helps your MPG a bit, and since it gives you more power, you don't have to push the pedal down as far to accelerate the same way. Plus it sounds sweet.

I would agree.
I'd suggest a PM to Railroader who has been able to live remarkably well in a financially admirable way, WITHOUT incurring debt.
He has the right idea!
If you want to check online for sources of info, I'd look at the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series of books and tapes and board games on how to beat the rat race. It will DRASTICALLY change the way most people look at personal finances.
To answer your question, it looks better with the stock wheels because the new ones have that chrome flange (that meets the tire's sidewall) which kinda looks suspect in the Photoshop image.
These kinds of considerations are an indication of too much disposable income. Challenge yourself and your finances differently. Anyone can spend money on things which are depreciating items and inconsequential. But, if you need this to make you feel better, then go for it!
Have fun.
One day you may realize that no matter HOW much you buy it will never be enough.

Those black wheels are nice. The thing is though, they make your tires look like crap. If you have the money, you should get some BFG ATs to go with them. If you can't afford to spring for new tires, don't buy the wheels.

Good for you. And if it's all the same to you, I'll just leave my statement to speak for itself and grant that you (and perhaps others) may be exceptions to the rule.
Back on topic...
The wheels are not as great, in my opinion, as the stock wheels.

I used to be all about my car. It was a love affair..... but since I started college, it's been in storage, and honestly, it's been incredibly nice and a real eye opener on not having to worry about any of that ****. I'm me. No matter what I drive, what I own, or where I am. Feels good.

I started riding my bike to work this summer (only 1.5 miles each way) and it's nice not having to fill up more than once or twice a month.

Jeez! - you live only 1.5 miles form work and you have never considered not driving until now? Walking a distance like yours would only take about 22.5 minutes (considering a 4mph walking speed), I'm sure that riding your bike is only like 6 minutes with an average speed of 15mph. I know American's lifestyle is "not up for negotiation", but something has to change. What do you think will happen when everyone in China and India drive their cars to work like everyone in America?
I'm interested to hear more about your biking experiences over the rest of the Summer. Would you care to keep us updated in a new thread regarding your experience? I'd be particularly interested to hear about how it affects your health and your mood. I'm guessing that it would be a positive thing.

Actually I just moved to where I live in May and just got the job a week or so after that. Driving's not really an option since I'd have to park about a mile away anyway. You got the 6 minutes spot on. That's when I'm feeling good, though, as there are plenty of turns, hill, and three busy intersections to get through. I definitely keep it under 10 minutes though.

Just think of all those SUV drivers out there driving solo not even wandering onto the shoulder of the highway while talking on their cell phones and flicking cig butts out their window while changing lanes and not using their turn signals.
Are you still flipping them off behind their backs because you're too afraid to do it to their face?

I do it right to their face. Even the ghetto black guys with 22" rims. Here's a photo from 2 halloweens ago:

How nice of you. Now do it when they aren't driving by. Walk up to them and do it. Coward. I you're going to be a moron, at least be courageous about it,
And why did you feel the need to say "ghetto black"? Are you stereotyping? Being racist?

BFG AT's are the best damn light truck tire out there... I have a jeep wrangler that I have modified quite a bit (for 4 wheeling, I have a car fo daily duties) so I know more then the average joe about tires...
BFG AT KO's are not only great in most any weather they look sexy too... those rims would look awesome with some BFG's
as long as you dont rice/pimp/bling it out I say go for it... simple cosmetic mods are fine, just dont go crazy into useless trash...

You should buy gold and silver spinners with LED lights. Along the rim in rhinestones it should spell out "PIMP BLING GANGSTA"

I did walk up to them. They then drove off. I'm not a pussy about my hatred for H2s Kilbey.
Ghetto black? Because all the ghetto H2s I see are driven by ghetto black guys. I'm not discriminatory and thinking 'well he's black, I'll let him off.' F that. I'll flip him off too. I support equal opportunity hate for dumbshits who drive H2s.

Sure, that's why you're standing there while they are driving by. Or should I say "driven by"? And on a busy night when they can't stop and "talk to you" about your obscene gesture. What a mayon.

I've often thought the same thing. I would certainly hate myself if I were as judgmental as he is. His wife probably can't stand it.

Uhhhh... no. I do not constantly attack you. I simply challenge your opinions. You don't like that for some reason. You tend to explode at the slightest provocation.
