"Comedy Central is going back to the Futurama.

Three years after the show last aired on prime time, the cable net has signed a deal to resurrect the former Fox animated series for a minimum 13-episode run."

I find it so much better than the simpsons and really targets the semi-geeky computer crowed so I am happy.

Pretty sweet. Maybe we'll finally get to see Amy's obscene tattoo, if the picture is in HiDef that is.

Some of the smilies are duplicated so that multiple text strings (e.g. both :-p and :p for ) will auto-convert to image smilies.

But yeah, adding :zoid: is awfully tempting...

Adult Swim is going to take a hit, particularly with what it looks like they want to replace it with.

I'm not a big fan of their original cartoons, minus Robot Chicken. SomethingAwful did an article on how to make a cartoon for AS. The gist of it was the crappier the animation and the more random the plot/characters/lines, but funnier it must be, which often holds true.

I don't know... I think Venture Brothers is both coherent and well animated.

Edit: I have said they won't be happy till they find the most horribly animated successful cartoon on the planet.

This is not the first time we have heard that futurama is returning.
I have been reading about this all morning on /. and waiting for it to show up here.

Oh well, I hope it's true.

No, but this is confirmation of the previous rumors.

In fact, it was the guy who does most of the voices who spilled the beans on the then-ongoing negotiations in his video blog a while ago.

What does that mean? "Take a hit" Like a hit in the ratings? Do you mean to say that fewer people will watch the show than the previous one in Futurama's time slot?

I'm saying that whatever replaces Futurama in its time slot, will not get equal ratings. Why do you think they have those gimmicks going with Saved by the Bell & PeeWee's Playhouse?

Of course, maybe they don't plan on replacing Futurama at all. That 10.30 spot they put it on is irregular. Perhaps they'll just eliminate it when Futurama leaves.

I guess I'm trying to figure out why you say Futurama is leaving? Wasn't this thread all about how it is returning? I don't watch much T.V., so I maybe there is a piece here I'm missing.

It's changing channels. From Adult Swim's cartoon network to COmedy Central. If I read correctly.

My only dream is to see Sci-Fi channel announce a new 14-episode minimum contract for Firefly. Futurama gives me hope.
