Currently participating in clinical drug trial, as a foreigner, in Japan.

Take a look at the lower left corner and guess what I'll be spending my compensation money on.

I'm writing a blog about my experiences, at

Leaves? You should be looking at a picture of me lying in a hospital bed with an ECG hooked up to my body....... but I understand if you subconsciously blocked it out.

Um, anyone else get a dial tone from the stupid phone ad when loading this thread? Great - now I'm hearing things or else the ads have gotten more agressive.

Good luck with the tube things. You do realize you could just rob a bank, right?

yep, I know all about the London disaster, its a pretty hot topic here at the clinic. Thankfully the drug I am testing is not nearly as experimental, and while its technically a phase 1 trial for Japan, the drug has passed phase 3 trials in the States.

I'll fix up the first post in a minute.
Would have made more sense just to fix the first post and not even post this one, but hey...

"A catheter is a long slender needle that is inserted in and up your vein on your wrist."

I thought a catheter was for the bladder and it went up your wiener.

A catheter is just a hollow tube, inserted through an opening in the body, that allows the passage of fluids, or aids in keeping a passage open.

For example, the part of the i.v. that remains in your vein when the needle is withdrawn is an i.v. catheter... it allows the introduction of fluids into the vein.

The one you are thinking of is called a Foley catheter, which is introduced into your urethra and into your bladder. It allows the removal of the fluid from the bladder.
