Help me settle a debate: while in NY, should we visit the Bronx Zoo? We like animals and zoos, but I'm kind of on the fence because most zoos are so similar. Then again, I've heard the Bronx Zoo is the best in the country.
What do you think? Go or not go? Yes or no?

I thought Guliani shut the Bonx Zoo when he cleaned up the smut in NYC.

The Bronx Zoo is fantastic, though this is always subjective.
One word of warning, however. When you go in through the gates, you go past a "ride the camel" kinda thing, and get to an area with a concession stand, bathrooms, etc. If you choose to eat at this stand, watch out for the pigeons!
The tables people sit at to eat are right underneath a bunch of trees, and I probably saw the pigeons poop on about 6 people the last time I was there.
I think it is all a system designed to sell more Bronx Zoo t-shirts myself!

It's worth the visit, though I'm not a big zoo person.
The Bronx zoo has a ride that goes through different 'native' habitats. Including an untouched part of Manhattan island where there are rivers stocked with fish, lotsa old trees, etc...
The only exhibit I didn't like was the Gorilla habitat - they didn't want to be there and made it clear by keeping their backs to the people. The gorilla babies were a lot more friendlier.

Doesn't this kind of make it not "untouched"?

I've only been to the Bronx Zoo once, and that was many years ago, but I loved it.

You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!
