Looks like Microsoft couldn't bribe their way out like they did in the States. The EU seems to be going through with the 2 million Euro a day fine until compliance. I guess Bill jumped ship just in time.

I always wondered how many great products we're missing out on because some guy says, "What's the point? We'll just get run out by Microsoft." 
I bet if Microsoft pulled out of Europe completely, they'd have some sort of technology renaissance over there. There'd be a thousand companies lined up to intro awesome products without fear of being forced out.
