Clever...take a video of OS X and load it on an iPod, then pretend you're controlling it with a Stylus. Obviously that wouldn't work, the scroll bars and dock are much too small to be usable.

While I don't believe it, it wouldn't be that hard to do something similar for real (if Apple created a touch-screen iPod with higher rez screen that is).
You should check out a Windows Mobile 5.0 PDA sometime. Very responsive.

Yeah, right. The processing hardware in the iPod is surprisingly capable, mostly because it's so specialized. You can even run Linux on it. But there's no way it's equipped to run OSX.
Then again, Apple is supposedly dropping the PortalPlayer chips which have powered the iPods up through the current generation. Who knows what they'll use next?

Not saying this exists, but why would Apple build a mobile version of OS X to be identical to OS X for desktops and laptops? Using that argument makes no sense.
If they were going to make a mobile version, it would be heavily modified specifically for mobile devices of course. It could look similar, and be very responsive, but still be extremely different from the full OS X in functionality.
As for that video, the reason it is not believable is because it hasn't been modified enough. It looks like it's a video of a 640x480 Mac OS X machine or something, loaded onto the iPod.

Apple would definitely need to create a custom UI for such a small screen / touchscreen device. The OS X GUI only goes so far. The web browsing part, though, reminds me of what I could do on a Tungsten C. It would probably be just as useless.
Did the poster claim that this was a real device? Perhaps he just intended it to be a concept mock up and not a hoax.

Early windows CE devices were blasted because they tried to put a desktop OS on a tiny screen. They even had a giant start menu and icons on the desktop.

Yeah, I disliked Windows CE 1.0. Big and bloated, esp. for th time.. However, it got better as Windows CE got more streamlined, and CPUs got faster.

To be fair, older versions of Palm OS did that. There was sometimes a lag for the scroll blob.

This is windows CE 1.0:
The hardware looked like those old electronic address books or like a tiny laptop.
They were as useless as tits on a nun.

Once again you seem to be against the norm as the early devices were blasted to death.
If you actually consider that above OS "Great" you need to give your Mac back to Apple or someone who appreciates it.

It does that on OS X on regular full sized Macs. OS X isn't the most responsive OS out there.

For what other portable OS? PalmOS?
This is coming from someone who owns a Tungsten T3.

Only a PowerPC CPU is capable of running OS X the way it was conceived. I buy a Mac because of the PowerPC and only that.

I have to agree here. I loved the Windows CE OS. Last year I had a Compaq phone with Windows CE in it (or whatever it's called now). Great OS, loved it to death, but the phone itself was sh*t. I had to take the thing back, unfortunately.
Windows CE >>>>> Palm. Palm is sh*t. I tried the Treo 650 and it's so 90's.
