You can't polish a turd, and well, that's what you have here. I could only make it through the first few explosions because I started getting irritated at the REPEATED zooms that were OFF TEMPO with the music.

Cliché. Boring. Droning. Repetitious. I shudder to think what the competition videos were like if this won.

And aren't you banned anyway? And we're the retards fishing for compliments?

I find it ironic that I won an award for this, and everybody, and I mean, EVERYBODY I've shown this to has really really really liked it. But of course, here on the mac forums, it sucks, even though you guys never do anything creative except make stupid boring ****ing websites.

I think his posts have made it obvious that he doesn't get "Motherly approval" for anything…

"ban evasion". Course, they can't tell me what the original ban was for.... and it takes a whole 2 minutes including reregistering to make a new account, so whatever. If it makes Tooki feel better he can keep banning me. >shrug<

The quotes are from Robert Oppenheimer, the Texts are from the bhaghavad gita, and all the footage is from archive.org. It was a found footage project. I'm happy with it, it's too bad people who code HTML all day and think they're gods gift to creativity can't appreciate anything that someone else does.

Serious question: Why did you choose Shiva and text from the Bhagavad Gita for this film?

Because the Robert Oppenheimer quote is all about Shiva, the destroyer and creator, and how he was trying to persuede the prince to take on his multi armed form of death, and destroy the world. The quote I found in the Bhagavad Gita is the quote that oppenheimer was referring to.

Why I chose Shiva for the name of the thing was simple: Shiva is the destroyer, and the creator. Atomic bombs are some of the most destructive weapons known to man.... however... they've also created peace. They ended WW2, and since their birth we have had zero world wars.

Just some boring done-to-death crap about Oppenheimer and Shiva?

It doesn't sound like there's any hot chicks in it so I think I'll pass.

No, just a bunch of slow music. But like I said, I got to take a quick nap at work — so check it out if you need some z's.

uhh... so you planned and animated the explosions, and you directed the "actors" with regards to how to move? Doubt it.

You mean you edited it. Big whoop. Unless you're dealing with loads of takes, numerous angles, and most importantly, original footage, editing is by no means an artistic endeavour.

And I can't credit you with any of the things I look for in a film... color, mis en scene, framing, lighting, camera angles... all you did was edit and make fake zooms to the music. Sure, these are technical skills worth having, but don't go and try to sell this off as an artistic or creative effort--if anything it is a technical excersize. Nothing more.

And who exactly, in this school of yours, is giving you this award? What school is it?

EDIT: and WTF is with the "code HTML all day" bullshit? I've encountered more of the video/film crowd here on the 'NN than the Web development crowd... and by a great margin, at that. (This is also apparent in the post counts--film and video has about 27K, while web dev has only 16K.)

Ca$h, you have no life. I can't believe you waste this much time here when it's clear all you want is attention. Oops, I just gave you some. That'll be the last time. Now go grow up.

Sweet then you should post a video of yours.

Also, I did way more than just edit. The plane that keeps popping in, the tint goes from green to red with the beats. But you didn't notice that. Sometimes certain parts of hte melody are represented with one piece of footage, and htey're overlayed on top of a piece of film that represents another deeper part of hte music. All of hte footage I used I framed, because it was not big enough to use as NTSC standards. The fake zooms were the weakest part of the entire hting, and only in the beginning, so it's quite obvious you didn't even watch the whole thing.

But that said, i appreciate your criticism..... but so I know it's coming from a viable source, please post one of your superior videos.

Ahh, a logical fallacy: The appeal to authority/experience. Who'da thunk it!?!

One does not need to be an expert in making videos to have expertise in critically analyzing videos. Do the writer for Cahiers du cinema all have to be experts in movie-making to have their thoughts taken seriously on the subject?

Thanks, ca$h.

Two posts of mine, two of your usual, laugh-inspiring ridiculous replies. That's great. I am having a tough day at work and needed to relax. You helped me out, especially confusing me with loki74. I got a kick out of that.

Thanks again!

Very hard to do when your username keeps changing.

Maybe the mods should (on grounds of sanity for the rest of us) let you keep one username (so we may ignore it).
