I just bought a very nice DVD recorder which allows me to transfer my VHS home movies to DVD. The downside is that it produces DVDs in the same format as commercial DVDs. I need to edit the results to delete Stupid Cameraman Tricks® (guess who's the cameraman!), and otherwise produce better programs for family and friends.

So, for either Mac or PC, what's the best DVD editing software you've used? And what about inexpensive? I'd be interested in inexpensive software that let me use existing apps like iMovie to edit my raw DVD video. Any suggestions?

Just import it with Handbrake and use iMovie?

Importing directly from VHS into your computer through a DV-cam or the like would yield way better quality though.

Why didn't you just get a DVD recorder with a hard drive?

But yeah, using Handbrake + iMovie may work. If you do use Handbrake, make sure you use a high bitrate to ensure some level of quality. Be sure to deinterlace the video too in Handbrake.

I hate to do it, Glenn, but I have to be fair:

1. Wrong forum. We have an Apps forum for a reason.
2. Our rules specifically prohibit adding "noise" words like "please" to thread titles.

Gotta take my lumps-I was just trying to be polite with "please" and I wasn't paying enough attention to where I was.

I'll slink off now...
