God I hope not. The iPod minis were the ugliest pieces of hardware ever to come out of Apple post iMac.

well it's going to be the same form factor supposedly, just made of aluminum instead of that scratch prone plastic.

If people buy it in droves, does it really matter?

I really like the way the Nano's look now.
Make them aluminum and they will look like all the 3rd party players that were trying to copy the Mini.

I was disappointed when the nano came out with lower capacities than the mini, but I agree that its appearance is orders of magnitude beautifuller.
Still, I have a feeling that the next-gen nano will at least look better than the mini if not as good as the current nano.
Of course, if they're gonna drastically change the form factor, I think they should change the name again. And the industry is ripe for a new buzzword meaning small. How about iPod weensy?

Also... the nano doesn't have a hard drive. I get a little skipping with my mini from time to time. It's not bad, but I wouldn't mind having zero moving parts.

To me it would make more sense to give it a black matte finish like the BlackBook. It's good looking, durable, not scratch-prone, and most importantly, it's not a step backwards in style.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually what Apple is working on.
