I know you meant no harm, but this really belongs in the political lounge don't you think?
It may have been meant as funny, but it WILL turn out to be a bunch of political whining. (Please forum, prove me wrong)

Those are slips that just happen in free speech. And Bush has given many many speeches and a great talent for hilarious slips. That has nothing to do with his political orientation. I just saw this yesterday and I had to share it because it's so funny.

It's humour Kevin, not a political statement. I'd laugh about Blair's or Clinton's gaffs too.

Ah yes. The only reason someone occasionally slips during speeches is because of stage fright, memory problems, or stupidity. Perhaps you should ask him if he's planning on another four years...

Is it true that Clinton wrote his own speeches?
Do you believe the rumors that Bush does indeed have some memory problems?

High end spectrum disorder (like Asperger's, but less severe). If you'll note, he only makes his slips when he's in front of a press crowd - when he's interviewed alone he doesn't really do it. What happens is something akin to information overload, caused by the presence of the press.
I have a similar problem, but mainly relating to audio (for example, I can tell the difference between a 320 kbps MP3 and a CD, but I'm crap at holding conversations in loud pubs because I hear everyone's conversation at pretty much the same volume). It causes "word poops" with me too.

Correct. But MacNN has a way...
Hence the reason I said "prove me wrong"
For the most part the thread is doing fine. The usual suspect(s) have made non-funny comments however.

I think this should be in the political lounge.
It's making fun of a politician. There was one going around about Gore, and it should also be in the political lounge.
Q: "But it's funny"
A: Great... it can be funny in the political lounge.
There is a political lounge for a reason... because not everyone wants to be bombarded with "the other sides" politics.
IMHO, this is just like posting a funny political cartoon.

Making fun or teasing a politician isn't political?
No... this simply opens the door for millions of "Check out this "funny" video/photo/blog of Bush/Clinton/bla bla"
Just because it's funny doesn't mean it's not political.

ARG! I thought I was crazy. People constantly ask me when I am in a loud environment if I have bad hearing because I can barely understand them and my answers aren't in the context of their questions.
I have VERY good hearing. I used to get tested yearly for my job and she always said I had the best hearing of the people she's tested. My cousin who's an audiologist has comment on my hearing many times when I have identified something near the edge of hearing. But put me in audio chaos and I lose it. I also have to reduce audio "clutter" whenever I can. I turn off TVs and radios when I enter people's houses. It's annoying, but I HAVE to do it.
My mother is the same way.
The things I learn on here. That's why I stick around.

He's bringing the comedy on all by himself. Did you watch the video? If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it ... is it political?
Just because it's funny doesn't mean it's not political.
Because he's a politician doesn't make the video political, either. There's nothing even remotely political about the video. A video of funny gaffes is just that, I think. I can bear with the fact that it sits in a thread titled "Lounge" and not "Political/War Lounge." I'll sleep OK tonight.
Oh, look, I bit!

I don't buy it. When he talks it is usually dead silent so I don't know what he is hearing.
One on one interviews are more coached and can be edited.
If you watch Bush 10 years ago he WASN'T a babbling idiot when speaking. He has just gotten dumber.

You'd think all those CPU and gismos would make him smarter then wouldn't you.
Unless Bush OS is Windows 98.

No, you're missing the point. It doesn't have to be audio overload - it can be anything. My particular version is audio related, but it can just as easily be visual - i.e. a sea of faces can cause the overload. Some folks with the touch version of it can only eat certain foods because the texture of others is a major problem for them. Other folks at the opposite end of the touch spectrum (i.e. hypo rather than hyper) feel the need to touch everything.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensory...on_Dysfunction
I'm not even saying that it's a SID problem which he has. But I'm sure it's somewhere in the spectrum disorder family.

Well either way, does that make him a good president then if he is someone who shouldn't leave a sensory deprivation chamber?
Is this something you are born with? Why wasn't he as stupid 10 years ago? Shouldn't he get some help or DRUGS!?

He's a dry alcholic. Ask anyone who used to be a hard drinker, they can tell you sraight up that that's a man who drank too much booze. He has streams of intelligence, he probably used to be a very bright man. He just drank himself into stupidity.

If it doesn't affect his decision making process (which it wouldn't, since he'd be in the Oval Office away from overload), then I don't see what difference it makes. Sure, it affects his ability to communicate with the public, but hey everyone thinks Abe Lincoln was a great president and as far as I'm aware nobody here has seen Lincoln make a public speech.

For me, the hearing thing started at about 20. It seems to get worse as I get older. However, I did display other symptoms (such as photographic memory) of the disorder family from an early age.

See answer above, plus:
Was there as much sensory information hitting him 10 years ago? Or do you reckon that becoming Prez might have increased press interest (and thus, "noise") in him a little?

It's been suggested, plenty of times IIRC. Problem is, it gives the libs more ammunition for getting shut of him (i.e. declaring him incompetent).
