Hi, I am looking for a car, right now I share a 2005 silverado with my dad, it's actually pretty nice, duramax diesel, crew cab, leather, plow, honestly, if I didn't have to move, I would keep it.

Anyway, My uncle took me for a ride in his 1993 "Sahara edition" wrangler, with all the liners and stuff off, and the windsheild was off too. He has the works, CB radio with PA, high beams, pioneer surround system, etc. I liked it! Hell, I loved it! So I guess I am going to go look for a used one, because they're surprisingly cheap. Is the only model that has the zip-down liners in the back the Sport Now? Or is it some other models?

Also, gimmie some feedback, how do u like it, how does it handle snow? Can you actually put a v8 in it or is there no room.
I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

Never driven a Wrangler, so can't give you feedback on that.

However, you can fit a Viper V10 under the hood if you really want to, so I imagine you'll get a V8 under there.

The Wrangler is great in the snow, but it is also very loud, drafty and uncomfortable. Super hot in the summer and freezing in the winter.

It's a fun car, but I think the novelty would wear off if it was your only means of transportation.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Which sort of says "buy a Cherokee instead". No such problems there.

kid, you live on long island, share a car with your dad (makes me wonder how old you are) and want a wrangler to sit in traffic in?

(if you live in nassau county this thing is null and void.)

Yeah, it seems like they'd be a bit crude. My GF's sister has one and she likes it quite a bit (but she's in the armed forces, so she's not exactly a luxury SUV person). They look quite fun, if you can stand some rough corners.

They ride like ****, very harsh, very loud while driving, very rattly, ever crack in the road gets transmitted directly to you, they get crap mpg, they're very cold in the winter, they don't handle very well, and they don't brake very well. You also can never leave ANYTHING in them as thieves know how easy it is to break into them.

That said, they were NEVER DESIGNED FOR ON ROAD USE. They are fantastically capable off road machines. If you spend more than 50% of your time off road, sweet. If not, forget about it, you'd just be a poser, and you'd probably end up hating it.

Dude, I would highly recommend a Wrangler to anyone. I had a 97 Wrangler that absolutely would not stop running. I drove it from Norfolk to Orlando about 5 times, Norfolk to Charlotte and Norfolk to Durham NC countless times, Norfolk to Pensacola, Pensacola to Las Vegas, Las Vegas to Washington state, around Washington State for three years, and then back to Norfolk. And then Norfolk to Meridian Mississippi, and then back to Norfolk. I had 120k miles on it when I traded it in on the Grand Cherokee. Loved it, loved every minute of it. Wish like HELL I still had it. Nothing is finer than going down a country road under cobalt blue skies, about 70 and no humidity outside... Awesome car, I would HIGHLY recommend it to everyone.

Oh, btw, the guy above who said they get cold in the winter doesn't know ****. The Wrangler has the best heater I've ever had in a car. I've actually had to turn it down, and I was stationed on Whidbey Island, Washington for three years. Pretty harsh winters, you don't need to worry about the heater.

And yes, they do ride a bit rough, but if you want luxury, get a damn Escalade. If you want tough, get a Rubicon Wrangler with a soft top. You will love love love love love loooooove it. I want another so damn bad.

Not like dumbshit above me Mr Tarheels who thinks that SUVs are designed to drive on roads and deliver newspapers. And driving cross country in a wrangler? Jesus christ. How's your hearing Tarheels? WHAT?! WHAT!?

Yeah. Thought so.

Don't listen to idiot cashboy. He knows not what comes out his mouth. He thinks people have to get his permission to buy a car.

And what's left of my hearing is from listening to jets catapult off of three aircraft carriers. Not from being in a Wrangler. The Wrangler is the most fun vehicle I've ever had. Yes, they are capable and all, but who cares if you use it on road...??? Get a hard top, and it's a moot point.

Oh because getting a hardtop makes it handle better on the highway, softens the suspension for onroad use, gives you better mpg, and better brakes right?

It is a very very very poor choice for onroad use. Everything else will handle better, be quieter, more comfortable for traveling, be faster, safer, more fun to drive, and get more mpg. The wrangler is a fantastic vehicle.... off the road. If you don't know this you are just another poser... of course, I'm talking to someone who drives an SUV to deliver newspapers, so yeah, you are a total poser.

Are you still jealous of the fact that me and the wife bring home around 7 grand a month doing newspapers? Well, when your burger flipping job on the grill pays that much, let me know.

Definitely not. You're a total moron. I don't get jealous of stupid people. Although your job does irk me. Delivering papers is a job for KIDS, on BICYCLES. Not fat, lazy americans driving SUVs.

No, just stores like the 7-11 and Wawa, the standard coin boxes, grocery stores, etc. And we just picked up two more papers.

That was pretty funny. Watching the wrangler outclimb the h1 is exactly what I was talking about. It's a fantastic vehicle.... OFF THE ROAD, for which it was designed. ON the road, it sucks ass.

Yeah making that much money for four or five hours of work a day makes me a moron. How about 18 years in the Navy? Does that make a moron, too? How about plugging the coordinates of your house into a few TLAMs... I am sure I can find a fire-controlman to put a few downrange into your bedroom window. Now, how's that for being a moron?

Really?

Do you know where the guy lives? Do you know whether he's actually got a proper driveway or not? For all you know, his house could be at the end of a half-mile of rough track.

And besides, you're in the US. As far as I know, it hasn't become a commie craphole yet, so if the guy wants an SUV, what's it got to do with you?

Kilbey got banned for harassing me 24-7.

and I don't threaten to harm people physically, especially with military hardware. If I knew Mr Dumbshit GO TEAM SUV driver's name and rank, I'd probably call the military and report him for threatening to harm civilians with military hardware.

Yep. I also know that another vehicle makes a lot more deliveries, and isnt' remotely close to being an offroad truck:

This is a vehicle designed to make deliveries. Notice how it is not anything like a vehicle designed to go offroad.

And can you actually take your family for a comfortable day out in that thing?

Has it not occurred to you that people may like to own just one multi-purpose vehicle instead of several specialist vehicles? You know, only one lot of road tax, insurance, drive space, that kind of thing?

Yeah, Long island is getting to be like the city, with all the apartments, and traffic. I figure in about 15-20 years, it will be exactly like the city. But I live with my parents in 2 houses, one in Stony Brook, which is quiet, but it can be a bit traffiy on 25a or 347. And we have another house in Orient Point. Which is very quiet, and I think that, while i still live with my parents, the hour and a half ride in the summer could be nice with the top down. And also said I would be moving, but it may even be to the city.

God I hate hummers, they are so oversized, ugly and remind me of gangsters, I have no problem with gangsters, but gangsters never do any off-roading with their rides.

But it's cheaper to own several vehicles than one SUV. SUVs get terrible MPG, and they cost a lot. It's cheaper to buy a junk truck and a decent car than it is to buy one nice 'family' SUV.

A Wrangler is pretty similar to a Land Rover Series vehicle, of which I owned several. A dream off road, but absolute hell on long journeys and especially the highway. Safe yourself the hassle and get car built for roads, not dirt tracks.

Anytime you get something labeled 'junk,' you're running the risk of reliability problems, which some people don't want to deal with.

Why does everyone think that long island is like the city. It is in nassau, with all the crime and ****, but in suffolk, if you go to the right spots, there are a lot of off road places and quiet towns.

Or get a Cherokee (XJ). Mine will hammer a lot of Series vehicles off road, will hammer most "chavmobiles" on-road, plus it's nice and comfortable for long trips.

Well let's see... I can get 450 Sunday Virginian Pilots in my Durango. Plus 150 Sunday New York Daily News in my Durango. Plus 150 Sunday Washington Times in my Durango.

I don't think that mail truck can handle that.
