I believe you have to export them as a CVS, then open that in Excel and format it to how Gmail wants it.

It's on the Gmail site somewhere.... Here ya go (you may need to login to Gmail first to view).

i saw that, but can't figure out to export a csv file on a vcard, am i overlooking that option in address book?

A to G is probably the easiest way.
