I can see his utility in a number of different sales or service environments. Actually, the more you look at the ad the more you realize what a find he could be for the right organization.

I'd give the guy a shot because I think people deserve second chances. but I would make it very clear he was being watched closely and one screw up on his part and hes out the door.

The idea of doing illegal things for substantial $$$ gain despite the scrutiny of the DEA has to be the ultimate rush. But he did ten years while others walked for cooperating. And his lists the US District Attorney as a reference, so I guess I'd look him in the eye and say this:
"You understand, right?"
He'd say yes and I'd never bring it up again unless he did. And if he DID screw up it would be with that understanding and I'd call the authorities no questions asked.
So, yeah. Basically, what you said.

Yep, I'd hire the guy. I'd make sure he was straight and narrow, but he's gotta have picked up some useful skills in his former profession.
I wouldn't hire amsalpemkcus though, as he clearly can't follow simple rules:

That article is years old at this point. (It was circulating around 03)
Though credit has to be given to the man that wrote it. Sure takes some balls.

It's actually older than '03. It ran in the Empolyment Wanted section of The Toronto Financial Post on 23 FEB 01. If you look to the right of the ad in question, it says "Please fax resume by March 5, 2001".
And I'd give the guy a shot, although the fact that he did ten years in prison shows that he made a critical error somewhere in his previous business, so he'd have to prove himself.

The 'critical error' in his previous business was that he was smuggling pot...it sounds like he has good skill and could make an excellent employee as long as he keeps it on the straight and narrow.

Cool he lives in my town.
I'd hire him as I am sure he knows how to get the job done.

I think he meant whatever he did to get caught.
Like they say, its only illegal if you're caught.

That makes sense then. I would think it would be hard to keep the mouths of 120 some people and all of their contacts shut.

Apple should hire him to smuggle the new items so the rumor sites don't get the pictures off.

That ad was ancient by internet standards, and the image far exceeded what we allow. It could easily have been cropped to fit.

First of all... if he was really that good, he'd still be doing it.
Second, if he was really that good, he can start his own business. Thus, either he lacks the desire, or is embellishing his skills. Just my .02.
