Tab Expose

I can't wait to be able to download this and try it out. Judging by that preview, it may actually be good enough to replace Safari for daily use.

Shiira was already better than Safari.

Apple seems to be really slacking off on Safari development which seems to have allowed Camino to, at the very least, catch up. And now perhaps for Shiira to handily surpass.

Long live independent browsers!

Careful. This new Shiira isn't out yet, and WWDC is only a few weeks away. Apple may yet surprise us.

I tried Shiira. It didn't have any significant advantages over Safari that offset the unpolished feel.

Which version did you use? I agree that the current version doesn't feel polished, but this one in development looks like it has an edge over Safari.

It was about 2 months ago, so whatever was current then.

EDIT: just downloaded it and tried it again. Now I remember my key complaint: I hate drawers. And Tab Expose is a dog on my PowerBook G4.

When will 2.0 be available?

Also, can it do spell check like Safari?

It really irks me that Camino doesn't have this and it really irks me that I can't spell very well.

"With the new release—by my estimation, still a good few months away, It might be nice to see some of these improvements find their way to the 1.x branch—or at least, a solid bug fix to address the outstanding issues reported in the forum."

2.0 looks awesome. The current version of Shiira is light years faster than Safari.

Thanks for the post! I have never heard of this browser. It is fast!!! I usually use Omniweb but this is tempting!

^^ latest nightly build of Shiira 2.0. Grab it while you can. Keep in mind it's not even in beta, is a bit buggy, and is in japanese.
Blazing fast though, and the bottom page dock is neat (although I prefer tabs). I'm on the fence about expose style tab browsing though.

Way too buggy. When I went to cnn.com it opened a new browser window for every file CNN's homepage loads. Half the buttons don't work too.

I like it a lot but it'll take a while (1-3 months) before we get a finished version. Awfully lot of features are missing.

One of the killer feature of OmniWeb is per-site preferences.
Wonder if Shiira 2.0 will have a similar capability.

Regarding Shiira 2.0b1, does anyone know how to get it to bookmark sites? I know it's in beta (very rough beta in my opinion), but I can't imagine a browser without bookmarking capabilities.

[Edit:] SORRY, I found a way. Thanks.

Yeah, that's a great feature. I gave up on Shiira because it's too buggy at the moment.

After it gets out of beta (or all the features are implemented and it's stable), Shiira will replace Safari as my default browser. I've been testing the new Omniweb beta as well.
