Idiots.

At any rate it is also going around that Zune doesn't work with Plays for sure which is odd. And the Zune will probably only compete with other 3rd party MP3 players and not the iPod.

Z + Tune = Zune

Guess they wanted to follow the X-Box and call it Xune but it didn't look right in type.

I realize the title of the article includes iTunes, but what did Microsoft confirm? The only other place iTunes is mentioned in the article is at the end when talking about Apple. The title makes it sound like the Zune will be compatible with iTunes.

I'm sure that even in English, it'll soon come to mean crap.

It sounds like crap but it probably will sell well, unless:

1) people mentally combine the $800+ total cost of having a Zune and a 360
2) it's hit with production setbacks like the 360, creating a shortage
3) against all odds Apple manages to release the new iPod this Xmas and knocks it out of the park

IMO if 2 of those things happen then the Zune will flop.

I'm betting Microsoft will do what Microsoft does best. Introduce a product that's "good enough," sell the product at a loss to win the market over, then sell "support services" to fix all the problems plaguing said product.
