I've been less than impressed with the Mighty Mouse, and really genuinely dislike their wireless mouse. The two combined...

Meh, I still think I'm gonna get a wired Mighty Mouse. They should go down in price quite a bit once this comes out, right?

Me too. They have a very tiny but noticeable lag which makes using the mouse frustrating.
Add to that the MM's unergonomic design and weird scroll ball, and it makes it even worse.

I used a mighty mouse for a while, but found that I kept accidentally activating Expose when I didn't want to, and it's not good for gaming as you have to lift your finger off of the primary click to get a secondary click...rough for the fast-paced FPS games. The plain Apple wireless mouse felt heavy to me...it'd be a chore to move around and harder to move quickly. Plus, like you say, it's got that little bit of lag which makes things annoying.

They better update the accompanying software. The Mighty Mouse could be the perfect "chording" mouse, but Apple screwed that up.

I like the wired mighty mouse except for the stupid side buttons which I have to deactivate.
I find my bluetooth Apple mouse too heavy and clunky.

Sweet. Although it's going to cost 60 bucks or something stupid. Not worth it especially since I just bought this one for 30 bucks.

I honestly love my Wacom tablet's mouse. I have all my USB stuff plugged into a hub, so I only connect one wire to my PowerBook, as well as the power. I just wish that I could get a big either WiFi or bluetooth hub that would connect my simple USB 1 stuff to my PowerBook.

I don't like wireless mice. Manufacturers say you can't notice the lag, it's only a few miliseconds. But I certainly notice it. It's very disorienting.
I still use my trusty Macally USB 3 button mouse. Works like a charm.
Optical mice are just... I dunno. I like my ball mouse. It has a nice weight to it when I'm doing design stuff.

sure it was hard at first but you get uset to it
I HATE wireless keyboards/mice you can never connect them with the computer the right way and most of the time the Bluetooth modual inside the computer would not work

If you look at the FCC filings, there is a user manual. See here. It looks like this is not just an optical mouse, but a lazer mouse.
Page 7 of the manual says the "lazer is outside the visible spectrum." I seem to remember that both the Pro Mouse and Mighty Mouse had a visible red light.

Once I moved to a wireless mouse, I found it impossible to go back. A wireless mouse really feels better.
Of course, I now use my trackpad exclusively, so there.

I find wireless mice to heavy to be comfortable, and have found the 'wireless' part of wireless mice to be mostly just cool, and not all that much better.

I've never had to change the batteries in my mouse.

I think the Mighty Mouse is one of the worst pieces of hardware Apple has made to date. It didn't even last a year for me before the scroll ball was totally farked.

I hope you mean hardware . I think I'm going to get a Microsoft mouse once I tire of my Macbook's trackpad.. but for now I am pretty happy with that. Microsoft and Logitech are the best at making mice, in my opinion.

If you like wireless get a wacom tablet. You have to use it on the surface of the tablet but. Anyway, I love mine. That said the puck was an awesome mouse!

i use one. have been for...8 years or so. got it for the very reason you mentioned above.
took me about a month to get used to it, but it was well worth it. i only use a mouse for gaming (or Shake). and a tablet for photoshop.
i have the marble mouse. the thumb ones are annoying. and the only other one that uses your fingertips was wireless. a wireless trackball. didn't seem like much of a point.

I try to use different mice and keyboards from time to time. Maybe it helps in keeping CTS at bay, or then I'll just end up with a more evenly spread disease.
One of my input devices is an ancient (ADB) Kensington trackball, and I love it.
Like Demonhood, I think the thumb ones suck too. There are really big differences in the feel of trackballs in general. The old kensington has a damn heavy billiards/pool ball, which is really nice.
But what I like most about it is the ability to program not only the individual buttons, but chords for combinations

I think I was one of the few that actually liked the puck mouse, once it had the indentation up front to know where the button was.

Figures, I bought the MS wireless duo this past weekend for my MBP. Oh well, wasn't crazy about the MM and I saved about 65 bones buying the <gasp> MS solution instead of the apple pairing.

Yeah, CAD$79. Kinda pricey. "Only" CAD$71 educational though. Strange though it's still US$69 for US educational purchasers.

Same here. To be fair though they do overcharge on a ton of things, usually add ons or accessories.
Look at the iPod charger, earphones or RAM.

Yeah, their computers are becoming fairly competitively priced, but accessories are way out there.

Apple's RAM prices aren't as bad as Voelker Research, a Apple Specialist, here in town. They wanted $140 for a stick of 512Mb of DDR RAM for my iMac without installation.

I'm just not fond of the Mighty Mouse. Apple doesn't seem capable of creating a comfortable, true two-button mouse. Forget making a bluetooth Mighty Mouse; concentrate on making a good mouse - period.
