This website is great, you can buy sell or get most anything there, and best of all they don't charge (except for job listings)

Long Live Craigslist!

Craigslist rules all. I sold a huge couch of mine that I couldn't move myself in less than 24 hours. And I also sold a bed in less than 6 hours.

Also found my apartment and got my job from Craigslist.

Couldn't agree more. Although, CL is hugely dependent on how many poeple are actually using it in a given area. In Portland it absolutely rocks. In the 3 years I've been here I have found 4 jobs, 3 apartments and unloaded so much gear its ridiculous. The last 5 items I listed on CL sold in less than 15 min.

Its like having a yardsale without having to do anything. Oh, and I just bought a car off CL that was an absolute steal. Paid 30% of Blue Book and it runs like a top. ('93 Subaru Impreza for the curious).

All hail Craigslist. True greatness happens so rarely.

The scammers seem to love Craigslist too.

The few times I put up my computer stuff up for sale on Craigslist, I get people from Outer Slovenblovenia asking to pay me 20% higher than my asking price.

Yeah, unfortunately the Des Moines Craigslist is pretty dead. Hardly any activity, it seems.

I'll second that! I love PDX!

My brother-in-law and his family and my favorite cousin live there. The wife and I travel out about twice a year. She wants to move there.

I just hate moving. So I'm not big on the idea. But it's a great town.

And the smoked salmon fish & chips at the Rock Bottom are scrumptious.

Is this thread about Portland or Craigslist?

I sold my car on Craigslist, good stuff. Always tons of bargains there.

Sold:

-One old desk
-Old hot tub
-96 DVD cases

it's like having the city dump come to your house AND paying you for the honor of hauling your crap away.

My favorite section of CL is the free stuff. Several months ago someone decided that they would not have an estate sale, and instead gave everything away that they had in the house (not including the house). I was bummed because I got there an hour after the give away started, and by the time I got there most of the house had been cleared out already!

thought it was a little more than that... anyway, good reason not to piss off your business partner when you've forgotten you gave him partial ownership...oops.

The free stuff section rocks, though tnot as much around here. There's a great series on Instructables where they go one of the many 'Free to Good Home' boats listed there.

In my area, seemingly everyone on CL is a flake. I avoid it.
