Guys Plays Joke - Freaks Out Reporter

What a witchy little woman. What the guy does is exactly like a joke I would play, sad to say.

If you look closely, you can see that there is a fake finger supposedly cut off on the ground beside him.

I can understand her reaction. It seems over the top at first but she was shocked and then pissed that they'd do it. It's over the top sure, but we're objective she couldn't have been.

I dunno. I kinda agree with her. To me, faking a serious injury and then laughing at the people who were concerned isn't funny.

It would have been funny if they were just taping the segment, but it was very uncool to do it on a live broadcast.

Was that supposed to be his finger on the ground? Looked like a hot dog. I think her reaction made the joke funnier, although I agree, its not really ok for a news segment.

She's mad because from her perspective it probably looked more real than it did from the camera's perspective.

I think it would have been more professional to throw back to the news anchor, and then once off the air, dress down the assistant, whose idiotic prank would never have otherwise been broadcast. My bet he was fired.

She's the talent here, and it's her story, her call. But telling the audience it was fake, and then waiting a minute and having the guy fired, would have been slightly more professional.

That said, the whole piece was ridiculous to start with.

These are the same guys that made the retarded "iPod's Dirty Secret" movie a couple years back. The Neistat brothers. They are total fame whores and will do anything to get a rise out of people. I'm wondering if the reporter was expecting some shenanigans. Big f'ing deal, they proved that people won't risk confronting a possible criminal on the street to save someone else's bike.

Either way, I found it to be hilarious. Was her reaction reasonable? Who cares?

First of all, it was not scripted by a producer - no one knew about it in the least.

Second of all, you must have things scripted by a producer or someone could be hurt in the mayhem of trying to help. Suppose someone runs to help and trips on a wire on the floor from a camera and falls and cracks his or her head open. Now you DO have someone seriously hurt.

Thirdly, you have to consider your viewing audience when you play a joke like that...here in Florida your viewership might have been people 45 to 80 and to them they would only be very upset - and then the calls to the station pour in and if the station then says, "It's a joke," to the people who saw it and became alarmed they then become angry and you lose viewership and in turn sponsorship.

Last of all, it wasn't even funny - it was just stupid.

It was completely inappropriate what they did, and I don't see any humor in it at all. However, she really became more of a crybaby than necessary. She should have said something like: "Stop what you're doing. That was an unplanned prank, folks. No one was hurt. We'll be back after these messages."

The joke wasn't even that funny. And besides you could see it a mile away. Oh look he's sticking his finger beside the saw - I'll bet he's going to pretend to get hurt.

The joke has been done to death. The reporter was pretty stupid though. What she should have done is belittle them for playing such an old and done-to-death trick.

It was a really stupid joke.

I don't get what passes for humor these days? A relative of mine called a neighbor to tell them that something was stolen from their home. After the neighbor called the police and rushed home they said "just joking" (ha ha ha). I might have had to hurt them severely if they did that to me. Then worse: I get looked down at because I'm related to the idiot that started the prank.

Do we *need* to start teaching humor in school? Is this the result of a generation raised on barney and sponge bob?

Bring back Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius please.

When you say 'especially' you make it sound like you're trying to say Fox is any more reputable than another news station...

I think he means Fox, CNN, et al. Generally these national cable networks are a cut-above the local ABC, CBS markets.

This was FOX5, the local FOX affiliate in NYC, not the FOX News cable network. The anchor is Jodi Applegate on Good Day New York, which is their equivalent of Good Morning America or the Today show... a mix of actual news and human interest-type segments.

Her reaction was the funniest part of it. The prank was obvious and stupid. Her reaction (which was over the top but not unwarranted) was great.

I'm not sure what that has to do with this thread. It wasn't a political clip, it was about a practical joke. No need to bring politics in here.
