This is not very surprising, given that voice recognition software has never worked properly. Dunno what idiot decided that it would be a good idea to demonstrate it in front of an audience.

No kidding. Talk about a bad combo: Voice recognition + M$.
Does anyone even care about voice recognition? I feel like a moron talking to my computer, especially when it doesn't catch something and I have to repeat it 2 or 3 times…

I agree, it's like voice dialing on cellphones.
"Dial John" ... "John. Dial John" ... "Dial John Smith" ... "DIAL JOHN SMITH'S CELLPHONE!"
It would've been so much easier to go into the phonebook and choose John Smith and dial, and in this case, with voice recognition, typing is a lot less stressful.

Voice wreck-ignition.
If ambient noise is a factor, how do they expect it to work in a workplace - with ringing phones, conversations, etc.?

Many years ago, in a moment of madness, I purchased a copy of IBM's Via Voice for Macintosh. I learned two things.
1. We talk differently to how we write.
2. Voice recognition doesn't work like it does in Startrek.
