Thanks to all who have posted answers in my first thread about domains and web hosting.

Now that I have dreamhost, I am debating between two domain names, one that ends in .info and one in .net.

The domain name proper is different for both, since most .net address are taken, but .info is still fairly open.

I lean to towards the .net becuase its easier for people to remember my email address is .net. I think people will out of a force of habit type .com and .net but .info is so new it may be a learning curve which means missing emails.

Thoughts and opinions?

One other question, I noticed that network associates allows .us to be registered but dreamhost only accepts .com, .net, .info. What's the scoop on .us?

Thanks in Advance
Michael

I'd say most email programs have an address book where people keep their email addies. You also have programs like Mail and GMail that just "remember" email addies you've used - quite handy. Anyway, I'd guess most people don't memorize email addies for this very reason.

Having said that, however, I'd try to get a .net domain if at all possible.

As for .us, AFAIK, ICANN lets domain registrars be the sole provider of domains for a certain amount of time. (IIRC, Deamhost used to have this right for .dr - doctor.) Think of pharmaceutical companies and a new drug. My guess is that NA will have .us for a while longer before other registrars are allowed to use it.
