Katie Pulls Strings on Flight

Typical. Newspeople are the same as Hollywood celebrities: valuing themselves far higher than common Americans.

Forgot to post this along with the link...

The witness told Page Six that attendants on Wednesday's 6:30 p.m. Delta Shuttle flight out of Washington, D.C., had already closed the door and passengers were buckled in, when the soon-to-be CBS News anchor raced up the aisle with a cellphone to her ear and told an attendant she had to speak to the pilot right away. Couric was then allowed into the cockpit and convinced the pilot to delay the flight and reopen the door for her producer, Nicola Hewitt.

I'm not sayin she's cute, but you know what I mean. And that $60M contract is nice!

She should just buy a plane?

Unbelievable!

Must be all those pearls around her neck that charmed the crew. She also has nice teeth, which helps.
Would be absolutely not permitted if this dude requested the same. lol!

Katie Couric is kind of nice to look at. She's otherwise useless.

It's not entirely impossible for a plane to reopen the door. It is entirely the Captain's call.

A few years ago (before she passed-on) my mother forgot her oxygen regulator at the security booth of the ATL airport. I went back to retrieve it for her. When I returned the door was closed and the plane had already gotten a pushback from the gate. Since my mother was nowhere to be found I presumed that the flight attendent wheeled her in. I called her cell phone (which she apparently didn't turn off) and told her that I'd call the oxygen supply company in Florida to get her a new O2 regulator. She said "wait a minute". I heard some mumbling and then she hung up. A few seconds later the plane was being pulled back TOWARD the gate. Then the door opened and the captain came out. He asked me for ID. He inspected the device. I said thank you very much. After that, off they went. I have been forever greatful to Delta airlines for the extreme courtesy shown to my mother.

My point is that there is no rule to prevent them from waiting or re-opening the door. Many times for expediency they often pretend that there is. Once they are cleared to leave it's up to the captain as to what rules are to be followed.

I doubt this reporter in question did anything wrong ... perhaps the Captain was ahead of schedule and was trying to get an autograph. Who knows. For most people this won't happen.

Personally if you are in the public eye like that you should avoid situations which make you stand out.
