In Jamaica and the United States the Fahrenheit system continues to be very widely used. In Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Europe, Celsius has been adopted and is widely used.
In the age of Global media, it's nice to know Jamaica understand what the temperature is in the US during the heat wave.

And what's with the use of the Imperial system over there when everyone else has gone metric?

That is why I postponed my move to Brooklyn from today to Friday. By Friday it will be back down to the 80s.
As it stands though, we are going to have 100F+ temps for the next few days in DC as well. Yeah!!!

Yeah, if you're moving furniture you're liable to pass out in this weather.

What Dakar said.

Abe/aberdeen/mojo2/etc. asked me this and I told him the dc stands foir my initials as well as my location. I have been dcmacdaddy for almost a decade on the IntarWeb. I plan on having the same nick until I die.

Although . . . I might register a novelty account on here for laughs.

Here in Detroit it's not quite as bad as NYC, but it's still up there. Went running at like noon and almost passed out after 1.5 miles, just barely made it home.

Keep in mind that Louisiana is one of the most humid places in the U.S. Those temperatures can't describe the mugginess.

104 in NYC, with the heat index at 120.

You might say it's a bit tepid.

I've just put the heating on.

And this time last week I was roasting me plums off.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.
That's where there's thunder... and the wind shouts back.

actually fahrenheit is a far more accurate way to measure temperatures as it offers more variables for any one temp to possibly be. examples:

32F = 0C
33F = 0C
34F = 1C
35F = 1C
.............
81F = 27C
82F = 27C

etc, etc...

You gotta be kidding me.

It's time for someone to 'invent' the decimal numbering system in conjunction with Celsius.
