Austrian Police Test Porsche Patrol Car

Austrian police are testing a Porsche 911 as a traffic control car to help prevent motorists from speeding.

Austrian police are testing a Porsche 911 as a traffic control car. They say the sight of the 177mph sportscar makes speeding motorists slam on their brakes /Ext

A spokesman said the £65,000 sports car, than can do up to 177mph, had been a major success and they are planning to buy more.

He said: "The preventive effect is excellent. Drivers just needed to see it parked alongside the road and they slammed on the brakes.

"The only thing is that it's a bit cramped. But there's still enough space for the essential equipment like the speeding radar and the breathalyser."

Our highway police used to have tons of 911s but they got rid of them because they had too many crashes with them. This was before they had things like traction control and ESP. (or PSM)

I remember an old episode of the TV show, I Spy, where one of the guys was hauled into an Italian court for speeding and used the defense that America had the best race car drivers and speeding was just part of the American culture and the Judge had to remind the attorney of Italy's fine racing heritage before letting him go with a small fine or a warning.

It is sexier looking (hate the color, though).

Speaking of color, this young woman chose to knit a Ferrari in the same color as your sig.

Student knits her own Ferrari
Art graduate Lauren Porter knitted a Ferrari sportscar for her honours degree at Bath Spa University.

The classic red bodywork consists of 250 squares of garter stitch made by Lauren and 20 family members and friends.

The windows are V-shaped stocking stitch, while the details are crochet and the badge is embroidered.

It's all supported by a steel frame which Lauren, 22, of Greatham, Hants, welded herself.

Are those stripes on his pants designed to be horizontal when riding a motorbike (to match the bike's design)?

Because they look pretty lame standing up.

No need for any of that. Just install billions of CCTV cameras all over the place - that'll do the job. It won't make your citizens feel oppressed in the slightest.

Note to self: Get a RUF for trips to Austria.

And that vaunted Italian styling seems wasted behind the wheel of a cruiser.

LOVE the boots!
